When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly
a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the
whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of
fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with
the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

From Passover To Pentecost
Dear Readers,
Time flies! We are fast approaching the
halfway mark of 2019. Biblically, we are also
in transition. We have moved swiftly from
remembering Jesus as our Passover Lamb
(19-27 April 2019) to be reminded again that
we can experience the promise of the
equipping power, provision and presence of
the indwelling Holy Spirit of Pentecost (9-10
June 2019)!
It is an on-going realignment to
receive God's anointing for the assignments
He has called us to be partners with Him.
Indeed, God has given us our senses to tune
in to His Presence – to hear His voice and
receive His fresh downloads, our daily
manna from heaven.
Therefore, in this issue of IN STEP, let the Holy Spirit of God encourage,
exhort and comfort you. Truly, God wants you to be a victor and not a victim of
circumstances even as the enemy seeks to wear you down with his attacks right up
to the mid-year mark.
Allow the Holy Breath of God to breathe His life into you as you review the
books recommended for your reading. Soak in the bite-sized thoughts and visuals
received and shared freely by Angeline Hee with her group of students. Meditate on
the thoughts that are gleaned from LUKE and ACTS in line with TCF support of the
teaching and learning of Bible Knowledge at SPM level.
Let the Holy Wind of God blow away the weariness and dreariness of
institutionalised life and living from you as you read or watch from YouTube
Restoring God's Face to Society by Johnny Enlow. Know the remedies for the
attacks of the enemy as shared by Doug Addison. Obey God's strategies and ask
His Holy Spirit to enable us to shift paradigms if necessary, from our trapped and
fixed mindsets of the old cycles. Allow His new wineskins to be formed in us so that
His new wine can flow through us.
In God's amazing patience, goodness and mercies towards us, we can still
feel the effects of His Wind blowing locally in East and West Malaysia. Read about a
teacher trainee's testimony by Vincent Lee Kok Hoe. Share in Cheam Cheng Sooi's

will gain the focus we need to reach the destination the Lord has for us for 2019!

 Stoke The Fire Within
I
never thought I would be called
into the teaching ministry.
Indeed, it is not my thought, but
rather His thought. I remember
when I was in Form 4, I attended the
NSCFL Camp 2015. One of the
plenary sessions was 'Teaching as a
Vocation'. Mr. Abel Cheah from
Teach For Malaysia (TFM) shared
about his experience with his
students and the challenges he
faced. He ended with a prayer for
those who were interested in
teaching. I was one of them, who
strangely raised up my hand. It
marked the beginning of God
equipping me slowly but surely to
serve Him in the teaching arena.
In 2016, when I was in Form 5, I
took Bible Knowledge (BK) for SPM
and committed myself fully to
establish the Christian Fellowship
(CF) which was about to close down
in 2015. Our CF was unofficial and it
was difficult to recruit members.
However, through much prayer God
gave us strength and wisdom to

serve Him in the CF. On hindsight,
the experience of taking SPM BK
and the CF leadership exposure
were crucial in preparing me to be a
Christian teacher in the future.
Furthermore, the stories that Miss
Moey Yoke Lai shared during BK
classes stoked the fire of teaching
within me. Clearly, God showed me
when I was in Form 5 that I should
enter the teaching profession.
However, when I applied for IPG
in 2017, with Science as my first
choice and English as my second, I
did not get past the selection test.
Naturally, I was depressed and
questioned God in my prayer. After
wrestling in prayer, I felt God wanted
me to continue with Form 6 studies.
I was elected as the president of
Form 6 Student Council. The
experience and exposure gained
during Student Council days were
God's way of equipping me with soft
skill sets such as leadership
enhancement, communication and
entrepreneurial skills.

In 2018, my parents encouraged
me to apply for IPG again. A part of
me was not thinking of applying
again because I was hoping to
complete my Form 6 studies and
enter UPSI. However, another part of
me was telling me to apply again. I
was in sixes and sevens. I prayed,
“Lord, what is Your will?”
Two days before the IPG
application deadline, I was looking
through my BK textbook Gospel of
Luke, and my eyes rested on Luke
22:42, where Jesus prayed, “Father,
if you will, take this cup of suffering
away from me. Not my will however,
but your will be done.” It triggered
within me to surrender everything to
Him — to do my best and let him
determine the outcome. After
considering a few factors, I applied
for Bahasa Melayu as my first
choice and Bimbingan dan
Kaunseling as my second. The
interview went smoothly, and I told
myself whatever the result, it is His
will and I should gladly accept it.
 When I checked the interview
result, I was very thankful to be
accepted and given my first choice,
BM! However, where is Kuala Lipis?
My exciting adventure with the Lord
has begun! It is being placed by Him
in a new place, meeting unfamiliar
people and facing fresh challenges. I
was placed in Institut Pendidikan
Guru Kampus Tengku Ampuan
Afzan (IPGKTAA) in Kuala Lipis,
Pahang.
Kuala Lipis has plenty of trees
and with no shopping mall and
cinema in sight. It is an excellent
setting for studies, sports, quiet time
and sleep! I am placed in the BM
(SJKC) unit consisting of 21 trainee
teachers.
I am attending Wesley Methodist From 2011 until now, more commitment to serve God during
Church led by Dr. Chan Chun Keat. Christian students were sent to the their 5-year term in Kuala Lipis.
Dr. Chan together with his wife, IPG in Lipis and the student ministry Indeed, God is using Dr. Chan and

Luke 12: 27-31
SECRET OF THE LILIES

One of the school's gardens was
more of a small field than a garden
yet enclosed inside a stone wall
and filled with grass and what
appeared to be wild flowers of
every colour. As we were walking
through it, the teacher bent down
and picked up a purple lily.
“You know,” he said, “Messiah
spoke of these. He said, “Consider
the lilies of the field, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin; and yet I
say to you that even Solomon in all
his glory was not arrayed like one
of these.” He was speaking of the
care and provision God gives to His
children, comparing King Solomon
in all his glory was not arrayed like

work of man. The lily of the field is
the work of God. And between the
two, there's no comparison. It is the
lily that is more beautiful, the more
perfect, and the more majestic. You
see, the works of man are never
perfect. But the works of God are
always perfect. And so, perfection
is not based on one's striving to
produce good works. Perfection is
found in the way of the lilies. Learn
their secret. Lilies neither toil nor
spin. They don't strive to produce
good works. Their secret is… they
are the works of God. And in this,
lilies are much wiser than men.
A life spent trying to produce
works of righteousness and

holiness will not produce them…
and will be focused on the source
of those works – the self. But a life
focused on the works of God will be
focused on the source of those
works – God. So, the secret is not
focus on your work for God. The
secret is to become the work of
God. Cease striving to do the work
of God… and start letting your life
become the work of God. Let your
doing become the doing of God.
Stop struggling to produce good
works for God and let God produce
His good work in you. Let His
goodness cause your life to
become His good work. Let
everything you do and are begin
with Him. Let your righteousness
be the outflowing of His
righteousness. Your love, the
outflowing of His love, and your life,
the outflowing of His life. And your
life will become as beautiful as a
lily of the field.”
The Mission: Today, don't focus on
your works. But learn instead the
secret of becoming His work.
Become today the work of God.
Acts 2:2
THE RUACH

He took me to an open desert plain.
It was a windy day, so windy it was
almost violent.
“Come,” said the teacher. He
was asking me to walk against the
wind's blowing. So I did.
“What is it like to walk against
the wind?” he asked.
“It's a struggle,” I replied.
“In the language of Scripture,”
he said, “the word for wind is ruach.
But it has another meaning; it also
means the Spirit. In Hebrew, the
Holy Spirit is the Holy Wind. So,
what happens if you walk against
the wind?”
“It creates drag. It becomes
harder to walk and you get tired.”
“In the same way,” he said,
“when you walk against the Spirit, it
creates a drag on your life.
Everything you do becomes harder.
It takes more energy to do less. So,
when you go against His Spirit,
you're fighting against the Wind.
And you can't walk against the
direction of the Wind without
getting weary and worn out.”
“And what is the direction of the
Wind, the Spirit?”

“The Spirit is the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, it blows in the direction
of the holy, and blows against the
direction of the unholy. Now try
something else. Now try something
else. Turn around and walk back,
the same way you came.”
Si, I did. I was now walking in
the direction of the wind's blowing.
“And what was that like?” he asked.
“It was much easier,” I said.
“That's because there was no
drag,” he said. “You were walking in
the direction of the wind. And the
wind helped you walk. It moved you
ahead. It made your walk easier. So,
when you walk against the wind, it
creates drag. But if you turn
around, then the wind gives you
power. So, it is with the Spirit. If you
turn, if you change your course, if
you repent, if you walk in the Spirit,
then the drag will disappear. Then
the Spirit will empower you and you
will move forward. And then
everything you do, that you must
do, will become easier.”
“So, if you walk in the Spirit,” I
said, “life will go from being a drag
to a breeze.”
“Yes,” said the teacher. “For
those who walk in the Spirit, the
Wind is at their back.”
The Mission: What part of your life
is against the direction of the
Spirit? Today, turn it around and
start walking with the Wind at your
back.

I wonder whether as a student,
you had teachers who practised
the medieval mode of teaching,
that is, “Students should be seen
and not heard.”
In certain ancient societies,
especially Asian, the teacher/sifu/
mentor was perceived to be all-
knowing and their students were to
stay silent in submission, unless
given permission to ask or speak.
Even for the last few
decades in Malaysia, it
seems that teachers were
'transmitters' of
information and students
were to swallow
everything to be
regurgitated during
examinations. However,
with the introduction of
21st century teaching-
learning techniques,
ideally, teachers act more
as facilitators with
students taught to think
and 'learn how to learn'.
Developing a more
curious questioning mind
is definitely a very
important habit or skill to
nurture innovative,
inquisitive, creative and critical
thinking. Everyone especially
children and students learn by
asking questions for it is the
simplest way of self-growth
personally and professionally.
Even the ex-CEO of Google once
said “We run this company on
questions, not answers”. People
often desire to arrive at
answers/solutions speedily and
easily. However, we can learn more
in the labourious process of
problem-solving or asking the right
questions than we do from learning
the answer itself. Indeed, many of

the biggest advancements and
breakthroughs in life, for example,
scientific quantum leaps by
thinkers such as Isaac Newton,
Galileo and Albert Einstein were
achieved when they persisted in
asking the right questions.
Alas, many desist or shy away
from asking questions. Perhaps
there are those who have a
superiority complex, thinking they
know too much and feel belittled in
asking. Probably, they are too
entrenched in the status quo and
obsolete ideas.
Conversely, there are those who
possess an inferiority complex,
thinking they know too little or
nothing and feel stupid or foolish in
asking.
However, we should not be
ashamed of learning, by cultivating
the courage to ask questions
whether in a group or one-to-one.
Asking questions is an indication of
humility, teachability and strength.
It is good to nurture the skill of

asking the right/ appropriate
questions to find the right answers.
It helps to do some basic research
about the subject concerned to
steer one's thought in the right
direction whereby we can develop
better questions.
Asking probing, penetrating,
stimulating, insightful and well-
thought-out questions is an
essential quality of effective
leadership and
followership. People who
attain success usually ask
better questions and
hence often get better
answers. The 'trick' is to
forward the right question
to the right person at the
right time in the right way,
that is, gently and humbly,
and one may get the right
answer.
Moreover, the
effective leaders
constantly ask questions;
yet when questioned, they
are well aware they do not
have all the answers. “We
do not know but if or when
we come across the
answer, we will come back
to you” is a good phrase to use if or
when necessary.
Yet in our earthly life, we all
don't have solid, satisfying answers
for some of our questions
especially those lingering in our
hearts and minds. Nevertheless, it
is wise to learn to live life with a
certain level of ambiguity and
uncertainty or else we will forever
be restless and overstressed.
Perhaps it is wise then to 'live
the questions' now with the hope
that in due time, we will 'grow' into
the answers.

and it allows us to manifest even into society,
truth that overcomes the multiple lies of the enemy.

GOD AS TEACHER:
LOVE DISPLAYED IN
EDUCATION
If the end game is the true
knowledge of God as Habakkuk
2:14 says the whole earth being
filled with the knowledge and glory
of Who God is, then the entire
process is a progressive education.
As we gaze at Him as Teacher
we see a God who cares more
about us than about what He is
trying to teach us. In our school
systems, we are generally made to
feel that the instruction is actually
more important than us. A one-
size-fits-all approach is taken and
if we do not happen to make that
connection, we are going to be
flunked. We are just another
number and we learn to bend to the
system or we are considered
God as teacher does have some
set rules and principles. But He
takes an entirely customised
approach to how He teaches His
kids. He is aware that He wired us
all differently. So, He knows how to
condition the instruction according
to the wiring He has put inside each
of us. Every one of us experiences
customised education from God
the Teacher. He knows who the
softy is. He knows who is the touch
one. He knows who is the creative
one; who learns better in the night
and who learns better in the day. He
also knows baggage and
generational issues everyone
brings. He conditions education
accordingly. He is amazingly
patient.
He can also peer into every
heart! It is an advantage we do not
have — apart from the great gift of
discernment but never to the level
of our Teacher. He can peer into
every heart and see who is
resisting Him. And He can see what
degree He is being resisted. If you
have been a teacher you have to
guess, are they doing that to be
defiant or are they hurt, or why are
they doing that. He knows. He
knows who need more patience. He
knows who need more immediate
consequences. He is perfectly wise
knowing how all aspects of
Our Teacher is completely aware
of both our natural age and our
spiritual age, something that is not
generally known. And He gives us
age specific lessons. He totally
loves loving us through this wise
way that He teaches and instructs
us. He is more an expert on us than
He is on His curriculum. He uses
and teaches principles but He is
not in love with His principles. He is
in love with us. This initial gaze at
God, our wise Teacher gives us
some initial foundation and
necessary insight to how we must
advance the reformation on the
mountain of education. We can talk
about class size as a problem, lack
of discipline as a problem, weak
curriculum, etc., etc., but these will
all be secondary compared to
creating a proper teacher-student
dynamic, which is best modelled as
humanly possible, as we attempt to
reimage how He teaches us. Once
we know how He teaches us, then
we look to reproduce that in the
best way we can possibly think or
imagine or have authority to do so
here on earth. He creates. Our God
creates an atmosphere where
students feel prioritised.
Next, we learn from gazing at
God as Teacher is that He builds in
reward for those with a hunger for
learning. Scripture speaks of Him

as being the rewarder of those who
diligently seek Him. Proverbs 25:2
says it is the glory of God to
conceal a thing, but the honour of
kings is to search out a matter. This
means that God considers it to be a
royal attribute to be curious enough
to search for what is hidden. This is
clearly a brilliance of His education
technique.
God is not boring and
predictable. But He rather loves to
create an environment where
curiosity is awakened. In Matthew
13:44-46 it says the Kingdom of
God is like a treasure hid in the
field. His teaching philosophy is not
force-feeding education. Learning
with our wise Teacher is never
about trying to get good grades as
the end in itself, but about adding
to our arsenal of knowledge and
understanding, particularly of Him,
His ways and how to better steward
life. Proverbs 1:6 says to
understand a proverb and an
enigma, the words of the wise and
their riddles.
The third characteristic of our
wise Teacher is how He instructs
us with the story of life itself. Jesus
taught His disciples and the
multitude not with complex charts
and sophisticated terminology, but
He used that which they are already
familiar with. He taught them with
stories of life that they can relate
to. These stories called parables
were His specific methodology for
teaching. He used that which they
had in that day for His education of
matters of life. His wisdom is
always applicable to real life.
Knowledge that has no real
application is just vanity and feeds
pride.
God our Teacher is always
instructing and educating us
purposefully. All of His wisdom
starts with the principle that He is

the centre of everything. All pseudo
wisdom has God at the peripheral,
on the outside looking in. Any
knowledge of life that does not
acknowledge the nuance priority
and the availability of God, is just
foolishness. There is not a science
of anything living if that thing is
disconnected from God. Whether
we study cells, molecules, atoms,
trees, animals, people — all living
matter has as its source of
existence, its connection to God.
So, the health of all living things is
always tied to an improved
relationship with God. That is an
essence where education is meant
to be, the understanding of how we
relate to God and His creation.
Another related characteristic of
our God the Teacher is He loves to
be the One who lays out the dots
that need to be connected. He loves
us to do the connecting of the dots.
For example, in Genesis 2:24 it says
therefore a man shall leave his
father and his mother and shall
cleave unto his wife and they shall
be one flesh. This in fact lay out the
standard that marriage was to be
between one man and one woman.
Paul and the church leaders had
connected the dots. God has
always been against polygamy. But
He let us connect the dots.
Let us gaze at Him and then
seek to reimage how He is into the
structures of society of education
itself. He has a better way of doing
everything. But it all starts with
knowing the Teacher as He really
is. There is no such thing as an
impasse with God. If we will
reimage Him the way He really is, it
will cut through the restrictions,
even demonic power and
principality. It will be like knife
cutting through melted butter. That
is what Elijah manifested even with
Baal. But we really have to know

what He is like and advance His
way of doing things.
The colour associated with God
as Teacher on the mountain of
education is the colour indigo or
deep blue. Who God is as Redeemer
is that blue colour, but then how He
is, is an expanded way that causes
us to dive deeper into the deep blue
of Him as Teacher. The first priority
is having one's eternal security in
place when we look at Him as
Redeemer. The next priority is to
gain insight on how we are to live
then here on earth.

us all things that pertain to life
and godliness, through the
knowledge of Him who called us
by glory and virtue, by which have
been given to us exceedingly
great and precious promises, that
through these you may be
partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:3-4
2 Peter 1:3-4 tells us He has given
us all things that pertain to life as
opposed to just eternity. So, the
deep blue is advancing us in the
knowledge of His ways. We are
being positioned in our respective
spheres of influence and favour to
be God's government servants here
on earth. Deep blue is about
insight, wisdom and revelation. As
believers we have sabotaged
ourselves out of this deeper blue by
prematurely thinking that we know
things. It is hard to learn something
when you think you already know
everything.
If instead of resorting to know-
it-all-ness, we go after the dots
that He left in place and then ask
Him for the wisdom to connect
them and reveal the breakthrough
understanding even on things that,
again, seem unexplainable or
contradictory.
In the study of chromotherapy,
blue is the colour connected to the
regeneration of the circulatory
system. Interestingly, the colour
indigo is associated with purifying
the circulatory system. I am not
making any doctrine out of it, but
just acknowledging it makes sense
that the regeneration of our blood
comes through God the Redeemer
and that the purification of our
blood comes through God the
Teacher. The Holy Spirit clearly
carries the characteristic of God as
Teacher. He functions as the Spirit
of Wisdom that leads us into all
truth. He convicts the world of their
sins.
THE REVELATION 5:12
TEMPLATE:

In the Revelation 5:12 template, we
see love displayed as wisdom.
Worthy is the Lamb to receive
power, wisdom, strength, honour,
glory and blessing. Wisdom is the
heavenly attribute associated with
the face of God as Teacher. He
wants to be and provide wisdom for
us but then when we connect to
that wisdom, when we connect the
dots that He has for us, we will
bless Him. We will be a great
blessing with Him, with the wisdom
we have gained.
Now, we do know that the Holy
Spirit is the embodiment of
wisdom. He is called the Spirit of
Truth, the Counselor, the Comforter.
Wisdom is not just general
knowledge or facts and
information. Imagine a child's
colouring book with dots on the
page, that once connected in a
correct order show a picture that
was previously unseen and waiting
to be discovered. Wisdom is
applied knowledge.
As we restore His full face, His
many colours and all of His Names,
God's house on earth is being built.
Proverbs 9:1 says Wisdom has built
her house. She has hewn out her
seven pillars. God's house on earth
is founded in love. But it is built by
wisdom. Love has many faces. It is
wisdom that instructs, which hue to
use, which colour to use, and even
when to use it. He has so many
ways to love. In His nuanced way,
He knows which is the colour that
will reach each individual. Even as
you raise your kids you are aware
love is manifested in different ways,
depending on which child as well.
It is of utmost importance with
any assignment on this mountain
of education to be the person filled
with the Holy Spirit and then to be
continually being filled with the
Holy Spirit. In Ephesians 3:19, we
are exhorted to be and being filled
with the Holy Spirit. He is the
Counsellor, the Spirit of Truth that
we need even to know how to
connect to the various hearts that
we are attempting to instruct.
Too many “Christian educators”
have wisdom which is not the
wisdom from above. It is left-brain,
rational, even humanistic wisdom
that is straight from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil. That
tree champions and prioritises
critical thinking that weighs all the
pros and cons of everything. That
kind of thinking is wisdom of sorts
but it conspires against the fruit of
the tree of life. The tree of life fruit
is being led by the wisdom of the
Holy Spirit, often in ways that are
counter intuitive to critical thinking
processes.
That is the problem with
traditional education; you will only
always do that which is intuitive.
God does most of His great things
through counter intuitive advances.

system will always have you

walking outside of faith. Stepping
into faith always requires
abandonment of the mind of
“rational wisdom”. It was never
wise for Moses to raise His rod and
expect the Red Sea to part (Exodus
14:21-31). It does not make sense.
Critical thinking reveals that as a
ridiculous exercise.
God's wisdom requires belief
that the invisible is greater than the
visible. The same goes on for
crossing the Jordan River (Joshua
3) by starting to wait in the river,
which is what they were instructed
to do. The same goes for circling
Jericho with no weapons and
expecting the walls to come down
(Joshua 6:1-27). Think about David
if he had properly processed the
pros and cons of chasing down the
lion who had his little lamb, he
would not have rescued that lamb
(1 Samuel 17:34). Taking on Goliath
also violated critical thinking (1
Samuel 17:45- 50).
Then we have Jesus, the
ultimate violator of earthly wisdom.
He broke up one little boy's lunch to
feed 5000 men plus thousands of
women and children (Matthew
14:13-41). He spat on dirt and
placed it on the blind man's eye in
order to heal his vision problem
(John 9:1-12). You do not get that
in normal education. He walked on
water (Matthew 14:22-33). He died
in order to overcome death.
Everything about His life is
contradictory. The true wisdom that
comes from above is always in
contradiction to that which normal
education champions as high
intelligence. It is a foundational
confrontation.
We need to register that we have
a mighty host of angels on
assignments with us against all the
dark powers that are presently in
the way. Our forces are much
greater than the power that already
exists there. We are not alone in our
mission. We have Father, Son and
Holy Spirit who could do it all alone.
We also have overwhelming power
through angelic armies. God wants
to connect us properly to learn how
to work together. He could have
done the whole thing without us;
the hard part for Him is doing with
us. He is amazingly patient.
On the mountain of education,
the devil has a stronghold built
around one central lie. The lie being
perpetuated about God in our
current education system is that
true wisdom is self-dependence.
That in essence is what humanism
and rationalism is all about. It has a
starting point of we are on our own,
and so let us deal with that. There
is a difference between being
expected to connect the dots and
being on your own. In one, we
operate from a foundation of trust
and dependence on God and yet
where there are some things He
wants us to figure out. The other
we live as though He does not exist,
a manifestation of an orphan spirit.
Most education systems in the
world breed anxiety. We are
accomplishing more but becoming
anxious in the process because we
are being separated from identity.
Self-dependence is the noble name
for what is being attempted but the
psychological reality of self-
dependence is, I am on my own.
This registers to every living
creature as a stressor because we
are meant to think of life in that
context.
Therefore, the truth to counter
SCHOOL IDEAS
the lie of self-dependence is: true
wisdom is absolute dependence on
God. Scripture tells us point blank,
without Him we can do nothing
(John 15:5). It is a scary
proposition for many of us,
because we are not entirely sure He
can be trusted. This is where we
each need our own personal inner
healing to be sorted out. We need
the faces of God brought to our
personal mountains.
A proper Kingdom education
curriculum will so incorporate God
into every aspect of life that this
will become a much more natural
process to the heart of a student.
The real goal of education is the
pursuit of complete dependence on
God. Lack of effort is always
laziness and it is not a spiritual
virtue. However, our effort is
designed to be channelled towards
God as opposed to towards our
independence from Him.
All true wisdom in education
begins with God as the focal point
as Scripture says the fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom
(Proverbs 1:7, 9:10). If life is built
around the centrality of God and
His provision for every need in life,
then this is what allows us to sleep
at night with peace of mind, even if
we just got fired. Getting fired is an
earth shattering event for an

orphan but just part of the process
for a son. A son knows he can turn
to his father. One who is an orphan
at heart may throw a prayer
towards God but does not have the
inner conviction that the matter is
taken care of. So, our mountain
education assignment is to replace
an orphan education system with a
son education system (Luke 15:
11-32 Parable of the prodigal son
or the Forgiving Father).
Humanistic education systems
and models will only collapse as we
showcase God-centric system and
model that is better enjoyed by the
students and have a better proven
outcome in real life. Again, the
Kingdom way always has better
outcomes even in the eyes of
unbelievers. If you are an educator
it starts in your own heart. You
secure your dependency in God and
on God and then you carry that
sonship into school systems and
curriculum. Then you receive His
wisdom with how to incorporate
His ways that are not over the top
or does not stuff it down anybody's
throat. This next generation will see
a great turnaround as the rising
sons and daughters of the King of
kings and Lord of lords (Revelation
17:14; 19:16) show up with an
advanced knowledge of God.

FABRIC OF LIFE
T
he Holy Spirit is the most
trustworthy Guide who has
been given to you by your
Heavenly Father so that you can live a
godly life. He always guides you to
understand, accept and accomplish
the will of God. He is the One who will
speak to your heart, warning you of
dangers and encouraging you to
submit to God’s purposes. He also
empowers you to resist sin, obey God
and understand the Scripture. It is
through Him that a relationship with
the Lord becomes real in your life.
Each time you submit to the
promptings of the Holy Spirit, you will
recognize His voice more and more.
Eventually, you will begin to see
spiritual realities that only a person
who is in constant communion with
God can perceive (Ps 25:14). Never
take Him for granted but yield yourself
to Him. Submit to His promptings and
depend on His ability rather than your
own. He will teach you how to live a
life that is pleasing to Him and you will
experience God in ways you never
imagined possible.

wisdom is based upon what we can
perceive with our natural senses. If a
person looks and sound right, he must
be a good person. But it is God’s Holy
Spirit who gives us the discernment to

life. The person who functions in
godly wisdom is able to discern truth
beyond what an average person can.
He is the One Who guards and guides
us in a supernatural manner so that
we can walk in God’s ways and avoid
evil.
Maintain a close relationship with
God. The more time you spend in
prayer, study and meditation, the
easier it is for you to distinguish the
message of the Holy Spirit. If you have
landed yourself trusting the wrong
person, it is time for you to switch and
tune your ears to hear God’s Holy
Spirit. He will give you the spiritual
discernment you need to see what is
really going on.

circumstances that are causing
you to draw back in fear? If yes,
you can take them straight to the Lord
in prayer. Think back of all the good
times when God has been faithful to
you. It will reinforce your confidence
that He will take you through the next
battle just as He had seen you through

you will give you the strength to face
these challenges ahead. Take comfort
of the fact that He is ever willing to
give you His fresh anointing of His
Holy Spirit so that you have the faith
to fearlessly face the next battle. Just
rely totally on Him to lead you through
all your battles. You need not operate
out of fear in the face of what seems
impossible situations. Just as He has
helped you in the past, He will
continue to help you in the future. So,

take your time now to praise and
thank Him for the great things He will
do for you. As His presence will
always be with you, you need not be
afraid. Go in the strength of the Lord.

A
ll of us need wisdom in our
daily lives to make right
decisions. But how do we know
if we have acted based on godly
wisdom or earthly wisdom? Earthly
wisdom is limited by our own human
understanding. It is “doing what
comes naturally,” which means doing
what satisfies our senses and feeds
our pride. Decisions rooted in earthly
wisdom result in poor communication,
confusion and every form of evil
behaviour.
Divine wisdom is doing what the
Holy Spirit compels us to do. It results
in what is pleasing to God and
ultimately beneficial to us. When we
allow the Lord to lead us, our abilities
to communicate, understand and
manage life's resources will be greatly
enhanced. Divine wisdom will always
lead you to rise above your own nature
and function according to the power
of the Holy Spirit for fullness,
fruitfulness and multiplication
(Genesis 1:7, 9:28). So, when you need
to make a decision, come to God in
prayer. He will help you to speak and
make decisions with His godly
wisdom.

with excitement on 4th August 2018 from as
early as 6.00 am as students, teachers and
helpers gathered for the 22nd National Bible
Knowledge (BK) Quiz.
It was indeed the most memorable day
for SMK Tinggi St. David, the only Anglican
school in Melaka for having emerged
National Champion. Nga Tian Ern and Ezra
Tan En Zhong were beaming with joy and
pride as they received the MCSC Challenge
Trophy from the Most Revd. Julian Leow,
D.D, the Titular Roman Catholic Archbishop
of Kuala Lumpur. It was the first time
Melaka became the national champion! The
team was accompanied by their BK
teachers, Mdm. Grace Teh On Chew and
Mdm. Jagan Anand. You have made the
Diocese of West Malaysia proud of your
outstanding achievement!

Besides, trophies and certificates, the top 3
teams were also awarded MCKL
scholarships. The top 10 winners of the BK
18 Quiz from each Form received trophies.
All participants received MCSC certificates.

GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Meeting future teachers
I was invited to share at the
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
(UPSI) CF recently. On a hot Fri
afternoon, around 30 East
Malaysians undergraduates
gathered at the Methodist church
for their weekly meeting. It was
heartwarming to see this group of
future teachers. Over the years,
Associate Professor Dr. Goh Hock
Seng has been shepherding
different batches of under-
graduates. Despite having a full day
of lectures and meetings, he came
and joined us.
I am always grateful to teachers
and lecturers all over the country
who have gone the extra mile in
investing much personal time being
a friend, counsellor, spiritual parent,
mentor and sometimes surrogate
parent.
A home away from home
On 28 April 2018, I received a
WhatsApp message from a TCF
member currently serving in Miri
that his daughter in UPSI had
fractured her ankle and may need a
surgery. He wanted a contact in
Tanjung Malim. Later I was
informed that Dr. Goh and his wife,
Helen Lau Yoke Yin had taken his
daughter to stay with them for two
months!
The young lady shared with me,
“When I fractured my ankle, I didn't
know what to do. I never expected
that not being able to use a leg
would render me helpless. I worried
over small daily things which I had
never given much thought to like
my meals, how to go to class and
how to get around. When Dr. Goh
and Auntie Helen took me in to stay
with them, I was still anxious
because I felt like a burden. It was
difficult to adjust to being so
dependent on others but Dr. Goh

and Auntie Helen never seemed to
mind.
They provided me a home and,
in a way, a family. They fed me so
well that at one point I was
concerned about gaining weight. I
also got to hear dozens of stories
from Dr. Goh's early teaching days,
the Goh family living in UK and
about their family as well. They
were also concerned for my studies
which gave another parental-like
vibe. Dr. Goh bought me a pair of
crutches which were extremely
helpful. They have done so much
for me; it's hard to describe how
grateful I am to them. They are very
warm people and I think that
staying with them made me realise
what “Being a blessing to others"
means.
I want to be a teacher just like my
teacher
I was sharing on John Liew and his
ministry among his students in
Sarawak when someone in the
group pointed to Albert who was
John's only Iban student who
attended CF from Form 1 to Form 6.
Albert is in his second semester
pursuing a degree in Physical
Education. I invited him to share
how he was blessed by his former
teacher.

stood out as a teacher as he was
more than just a teacher! He cared
and loved students with problems
in school – the ones struggling
with their studies and those with
low self-esteem. Cikgu John loved
all equally. Cikgu John was also a
caring and compassionate teacher.
He was always looking out to meet
the needs of the needy students.
He would get sponsors to buy
school uniforms, school bags and
things needed to stay in the hostel
for the students.
Albert said that Cikgu John's
desire is to see all his students
make it to the university. He has a
special fund to provide financial aid
to the ones who need money to buy
air tickets and for their initial
expenses at the university. Our
Timothy Fund has been used for
this purpose in the past.
From Agape House to UPSI
I was delighted to meet two of
Lizzie's former residents of Agape
House at the CF! Febryani is doing
a course in Economics with
Education. She is currently in her
third year and will be graduating in
October 2020.
She is eternally grateful to Cikgu
Lizzie for accepting her to stay at
Agape House when she was in
