Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background

Social fear is one of the aspects that affect the socialization of a

person to another person. Social behaviour is defined as interactions

among individuals, normally within the same species, that are usually

beneficial to one another. A person cannot live easily without interaction

to another individual; most of the species are interdependent and rely to

one another in order to fulfil the needs of an individual. Obstacles to the

interaction of an individual to another individual will defy the success of

communication. Obstacles in communications usually happen because

of the way an individual behave and will lead to an irrational result.

One of the common group in the society is the students, who

crucially rely in socialization. From day to day basis, students interact to

socialize in order to gain or get something. Students will not get through

the day without relying to their instructors and classmates, especially in

their classroom. Even in their school canteen, they cannot even get their

meal without interacting, verbally or nonverbally, to the canteen clerk. A

bad social behaviour will affect to the interaction of students and it will

have a great effect to the response of the person or people they are

talking to. At some point, there are some factors that affect one’s

behaviour that usually results to a bad effect to their interaction with

other individuals. In this research, the factors that affect the social
behaviour will be discussed to know what are the reasons why there are

students who has a unusual social behaviour.

Background of the Study

Factors that affect the behaviour of a student are inevitable most

of the time. Since then, unusual behaviour is very common back in time.

Some researchers already came up with a result, but it is generalized

due to the fact that they researched it outside the school. Commonly, the

typical problem of a student to a new academic year is coping to their

new environment. But socializing gets easier as day pass. Somehow,

other students still struggle to interact because of their unusual social

behaviour. Back then, if a student does not response accordingly, or act

weird, other students will think something about it. Even now, students

still show some sign of unusual social behaviour, but around their

friends, they act free and normal. But in some cases, other student show

their unusual social behaviour when reciting to their teachers, acting in

front, and doing a presentation.
