2 ot Hilary of Gib Throughout the metal trade and dio- ‘making industry, shop foremen and en- Gineers express preference for Grob machines. The efficiency of these ma- chines in time and labor-saving, ease of operation and ability to “do the job right’, are the important factors in Grob Brothers growth and success, In 1929 Grob Brothers originated the first successlul continuous motion filing machine. The developmont of this first experimental machine to its present time saving perfection has been one of the marvels of 20th century machine designing. Our present plant expan- sion is the result of a nationwide de- ‘mand for these machines, ‘Thousands of the machines shown jn | \ \ | others Rapid Guoreth this catalog are in daily use throughout the world. Both large industrial plants ‘and small die-making shops, use bat- {eries of Grob machines for the most in tricate and difficult metal working jobs. Each machine is built to a set standard of perfection. In design and construc tion they are unsurpassed, operate with decided economies, withstand rigorous use, with practically no upkeep or re pair expense, in fact, soon pay for them. selves in thousands of dollars saved, in producing dios, The following pages of this Catalog show the new highly perlected line of Grob Brothers die making machines. In extrome cater move both guides, When sawing heavy material it may be necessary 9 ‘move guides 14 to I inch, In most caren aia ‘the sew blade, thereby eliminating all vibration, 2 LIMIT OF CURVES The limit of the curve to-be sawed de- pends on the width of the band and the set of the teeth. The sketch shows how to determine the sharpest possible curve for each individual saw band. ‘As soon as the edge of the saw blade touches the side of the slot indicated by Point A, the limit has been reached. Any further turning of the block will twist the saw blade without actually cutting a sharper curve. ‘When cutting curves at an angle, a cone like body is developed. It is very impor- tant that above mentioned rule is applied to the smaller curve on said cone, IMPORTANT GENERAL RULE ‘On curve cutting less pressure must be applied than on straight cutting, and the smaller the curve the more care must be exercised. It must ‘be realized that on all flexible band cutting the ‘middle part of the bend deflects in accordance with the cutting pressure. This “dragging” of the middle portion will not affect a straight cut but in curve cutting will cause a so called "belly" in the cut. Reduced pressure greatly reduces “drag”, thereby reducing "belly" to a pressure from in by arrow PI th the tendency fo noe at point A GROB @aeePERTE BAND SAW GUIDES COMPARISON OF SELF-SEATING SAW GUIDES The odvottoge of this type of sow guide over oer ie de tothe fe ha they wil eo hems, thus provid ing velaivelylrge boeing wrfoce NON SELF-SEATING SAW GUIDES ‘he ddonogs of thi type of sow guide i that thy wil ot sect themses, thrtore hoving 2 very smal bearing site “ih i ‘Area se “2219 540 aaa Te feet eae 2 Ose The prereI for below perme mommy ‘nering lng He of vow bled [BEARING AREA OF SELF-SEATING SAW GUIDE IS 26 THES LARGER THAN BEARING AREA OF NON SELFSEATING GUIDE.
