MOURCICITY
(MUD-SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY)
Abstract
Living in the era of modernization and technology, electrical energy is one of the most demanded
need for human being. With the increasing cost of electricity there is a need to find an alternative
energy which is renewable and environmental friendly with low cost. The continuous usage
without any back up or other alternative, it might lead to tangible harm in the future. It is very
important to find other alternative since we are running out of energy sources. In this research,
microbial fuel cell will be used to generate electrical energy without committing any pollution.
Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a technology that utilize microbe to generate electrical energy using
electrochemical process. In this study, different physical and chemical operating parameter and
choice of biocatalyst will be investigated. There are two types of mud that will be used for MFC
which are mud from paddy field and mangrove mud. The rate of electrical energy that produced
by microbes in the mud will be taken by using voltmeter. Comparison between physical and
chemical operating parameter will be held and discussed. This research seems to be very
beneficial and innovative as this project can be an alternative to generate the electricity in the
future. This invention might be helpful for low background families that live near paddy fields
and mangroves. Besides, if the usage of this product being commercialize to public, it can reduce
the consumption of electrical energy generated by power supply. Sustaining the electrical supply
for human being is a must for the sake of the humanity and next generation.
