SI3000 Pono
The Iskratel SI3000 Pono is a high-port-density, stand-alone, GPON Optical Line Termination (OLT) product.
One OLT port delivers up to 2.5 Gbps in the downstream direction and 1.25 Gbps in the upstream direction,
and typically covers up to 64 users. By using all 8 OLT ports the product can cover 512 users. The 1U design
is a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy product, ideal for interconnecting homes, apartments or remotely located
MSANs. Using a rich networking feature set if offers flexible network designs for the delivery of next-
generation voice, video and data services (including high-speed internet access & real-time video
streaming).

The SI3000 Pono provides 8 GPON OLT ports, 8 combo 1G and 2 XFP-based 10G network interfaces. Each
GPON interface accommodates up to 64 ONTs through the optical splitter.

Key Features and Benefits

• Non-blocking architecture
• Easy deployment in space-constrained locations
• Small initial investment compared to modular products
• GPON and GE P2P connectivity from the same product
• Temperature-hardened design (+65⁰C ambient temperature) that minimizes cooling system costs
• Advanced networking features for the secure, reliable and high-quality delivery of triple-play
services
• DBA (Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation) for bandwidth assurance (fixed, assured, best effort)
• Optical power diagnostics and the measurement of the distance between OLT and ONT
• Extended reach (up to 60km) configuration profiles

The high-density SI3000 Pono 1U product represents a quick, easy-to-deploy and cost-effective solution for
residential triple-play services & VLAN-based business Ethernet services. Its non-blocking architecture and
intelligent traffic processing enable service delivery with uncompromising quality.

Using the Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) algorithm a service provider is able to generate more
revenue from FTTH networks without boosting raw bandwidth by increasing the percentage of acceptable
traffic oversubscription.

Based on RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) and DDM (Digital Diagnostic Management) embedded
on the GPON SFP modules, from SI3000 Pono the operator can read the transmitted and received power
budget of the OLT port itself and measure the ONT side statuses. Based on this information the distance
between the OLT and ONT can be identified. Optical power-budget diagnostic features minimize the
operational costs of the operators.

When the power budget, split ratio, cascading, quality of fiber connection make it possible to have a long
reach GPON, the operator is able to make the maximum possible gain by configuring extended-reach
profiles.

Traffic prioritization and rich QoS mechanisms offer the efficient use of bandwidth resources and provide the
forwarding classes used for the transportation low-latency flows.
