The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday has urged the public anew to observe
preventive measures against dengue to stop the spread of the said mosquito-borne disease.

“The Department of Health (DOH) today reminded the public to follow the ‘4S’ strategy against
dengue as cases have been noted to start rising,” the health department said in a statement.

To note, the 4s strategy stands for ‘Search and destroy’ mosquito-breeding sites; employ ‘Self-
protection measures’ such as wearing long pants and long sleeved shirts, and daily use of
mosquito repellent; ‘Seek early consultation;’ and ‘Support fogging/spraying’ only in hotspot
areas where increase in cases is registered for two consecutive weeks to prevent an impending
outbreak.

Based on the latest data of the DOH Epidemiology Bureau, a total of 98,179 dengue cases,
including 428 deaths have already been recorded nationwide from January 1 to June 22.

The DOH said that the highest number of cases came from Western Visayas with 11,285 cases
followed by Calabarzon with 10,313; Central Visayas with 8,773; SOCCSKSARGEN with
8,297; and Southern Mindanao with 8,289.

Nadakma ng mga awtoridad ang guwardiya na suspek sa pamamaril at pagpatay sa 15-anyos na
Grade 7 student sa Calamba, Laguna.
