My teaching philosophy on education has been influenced by my experiences in life as

well as the experiences I have had in the classroom. I have found that my mission as a teacher is

to share my passion for teaching, understand and get know each student individually, promote

a positive and safe learning environment and provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Each of these can provide students with the capacity to learn in an environment where they

feel safe, have a desire to learn and help them develop a better education that will help them

for years to come. To achieve my philosophy there are many different strategies and supports

that I have found to be useful in my studies and experiences.

An essential part of teaching is the overall curriculum and instructional planning. Using

different teaching methods such as direct or explicit instruction, scaffolding, and cooperative

learning will allow all students to understand based on how they learn best. As a future teacher,

I plan to implement lessons that are clearly identified with a lesson objective as well as

strategies for effective student engagement and assessment options to measure students

understanding. These will help me as a teacher focus on clarity and will help students

understand my expectations and what they should know.

I strongly believe giving students accurate and valid assessments will help me as a

teacher understand what students are able to understand and what I need to change in my

instruction to help them understand better. I also think that assessments help students

understand what they know and what they need to work on or need help with. There are

numerous assessments that can be used such as rubrics, projects, presentations, portfolios that

can be sued instead of the traditional exams or tests that can be more engaging and exciting for

the students.
I also believe building strong relationships between the teacher and the student and the

teacher and the parents is an effective and reliable way to understand how to better teach the

diverse groups of learners. When a teacher is able to understand and know how to connect

students culture, experiences, and interests into the curriculum to make it more relevant and

relatable to the diverse students. Along with connecting with students, it is important to

connect and build relationships with their parents so you as a teacher can share their students’

progress and academic performance and how the parent can help the student from home.

I think it is important for teachers to include different cultures, backgrounds,

experiences from all students and the curriculum being taught. This will ensure students feel

safe and included in the classroom. It will also help with motivation and increase learning and

awareness about other cultures and how they are different and the same. It will also help

establish a respect for differing preferences and perspectives. I think a great way to ensure

students are able to share their culture is to have Students of the week where they can share

different information about themselves that make them individual including family, background

as well as hobbies and skills that will help other students understand more about them as well

as their culture. It is important to embrace everyone’s culture and the diversity because it

brings us as a world, community and classroom together.

Learning should be a fun and exciting way to experience and learn more about certain

subjects. It is important to me that the students not only do well and improve each more every

day but they have fun and learn in exciting and new ways to prepare them. This includes

creating a classroom with a sense of safety, community and unity where everyone feels

included and permitted to share their ideas and perspectives on what is being taught.
