Health Center of Ranotana Weru

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by the failure of pancreatic beta cells in producing the
insulin hormones. One of the management of Diabetes Mellitus is medical nutrition therapy (diet). The
incompliance towards diet can be tipped to complications. One of any factors that influences the
compliance of dietary is intrinsic motivation because it is occured from ourselves and stimulated from
environment.

The aim of this study is to know the relation of intrinsic motivation with dietary compliance of diabetes
mellitus type II in Ranotana Weru's Health Public Center.

Number of Samples : The researcher uses 83 respondents as the sample of this study

Research method is using cross-sectional which is descriptive-correlative with the purposive sampling
technique.

The result shows that values p=0,000 with the significant values 95% equals to p=0,000 < p= 0,005 for
the motivation and dietary compliance of Diabetes Mellitus.

Conclusion, this study shows that there is a relation between intrinsic motivation and dietary compliance
of Diabetes Mellitus type II in Public Health Center of Ranotana Weru.

Suggestions : this research is expected to give an extra information for nursing services, and to give a
scientific knowledge in developing nursing science and become a reference for future researches.
