Hemophilia: Definitely not a Philia

Philia refers to a Brotherly Love, and the opposite of “Phobia” (refers to a something a
person dislike or afraid of), completely positive and even didn’t have any mark of being
negative. But doesn’t mean that every word that has a Philia means love or something positive!
Hemophilia is the word, completely different, something that everyone is hoping not to inherit
and be avoided not only by ourselves but also for our family.

Hemophilia is an example of sex-linked inheritance disorder. And for a background for

what is a sex-linked inheritance; this is only one of the three major mode of inheritance (together
with Sex Influenced Trait and Sex Limited Trait), where a single X chromosome usually is the
phenotype that causes the mutation or the disorder. Women has a two X chromosomes, while
males have only one X chromosome together with a one Y chromosome which made them
more prone and usually get the majority on inheriting numerous disorders, but doesn’t mean
that females are exempted by these. In fact, many females that has an affected parents usually
become a carrier of the disorder, because only one X allele can express the affected phenotype,
furthermore, they can also become the affected ones by varying degrees of numerous clinical
complications due to the inherited disorder from their parents.

Again Hemophilia is an example of a Sex Linked Inherited Disorder; in addition, this is

rare blood disorders which the blood clotting factors are passive, reduced and to the extent of
not producing, in short doesn’t clot normally. Furthermore, if you have Hemophilia, you’ll bleed
longer than a normal people who don’t have this kind of this disease. This is due to the severe
bleeding of internal tissues and internal organ, which is more often to be seen in males than in
females. More of that, these kind of disorder varies and depends to the patterns whether who is
the carrier and the affected of this disorder to the parents (is it the mother whose the carrier and
the father is the affected, or vice versa). And according to the ThoughtCo If the Mother is only a
carrier and the Father doesn’t have any of the traits of the disorder, their son would have the
possibility of 50% on inheriting Hemophilia, while their daughters would have the 50% possibility
to be a carrier of this disorder; which means the mutated X chromosome will be compensated
by the normal one, where the effects of the disorder will not be expressed but rather become
only a carrier of the disease. On the other hand, if the father is affected by this disorder, while
their mother doesn’t have any of the trait, their sons won’t be affected nor inherit of the affected
gene from their Father; it is because their chromosome will belong from their unaffected Mother.
But the daughters will inherit the mutated X chromosome from their Father, which means that
they’ll be the carrier of the mutated gene and later on may affect also their future children.

It is really important for us to know the pedigree of our family, for us to enable to aware if
we are vulnerable of any diseases and disorders of our forefathers been carrying and having. It
is nothing better than to be prepared and be aware of the danger you might be in. once you
encountered some unexplained and sever bleeding from a simple cuts and injuries, and even
from a dental work you might have Hemophilia. In addition, many large and large bruises,
unusual bleeding after being vaccinated, the pain and swelling to your joints, even having a
blood in your urine and stool and having a nosebleed without any known cause is a symptom
that you have Hemophilia.
But don’t panic! Having small cuts isn’t much a problem but rather the greater health
concern will be internal injury and deep cuts, especially to the knees and elbows, damage
internal organs can be life-threatening. Again! Don’t panic because this disorder already has a
treatment, with numerous therapies. With our advancement nowadays, our scientists may use
the DNA Technology; they have come up with the recombinant factor where preclude the use of
human-derived pools of the sources of the donated plasmas. The patients with Hemophilia will
be on a routine treatment regimen, the prophylaxis, on maintaining the enough blood clotting
factors in the bloodstreams of the patients for the reduction of the bleedings.

It’s really not easy and devastating for us to know that in many things that our parents
may give to us their children, it is a disorder. But we can’t blame them; at first they are the one
got hurt on the reality that we might inherit a disease from them. Hemophilia is definitely not a
Philia, for this is the reason for some people suffer and got hurt and completely shows no love
but only suffering.
