1 Corinthians 8-13
“Ye Are the Body of Christ”

Teacher Preparation:

When preparing these lesson helps we follow the lesson outline closely. We will never vary
from the doctrine taught in the lesson outline. It is important that you always read
through the lesson and all of the suggested scriptures. Then read through the helps we
have provided and pray about which activities will be the most beneficial to your class, as
always follow the guidance of the spirit. The thing I love most about the Come, Follow Me
format is that it is designed for the kids to take an active role in their learning. We have
designed our lesson helps to help facilitate a lesson full of thought and discussion. In your
preparation be sure to leave time for the kids to share ideas, questions, and experiences!

Teach The Doctrine:

Object Lesson Idea:
Set the fan on a small table at the front of
the room and plug it in. Show the wordstrip
to your class and attach it to the base of the
fan. Ask for two volunteers. Give each of
them a character cutout and ask them to
hold them close to the fan. Turn on the fan
and ask them to slowly move the characters
farther and farther away from the fan.
Explain that as they move farther and farther
away from the fan (winds of temptation) it
affects the characters less and less. Share
with your class that if they move away from
temptation it affects them less. Read
together 1 Corinthians 10:13. Ask the kids to
share in their own words the meaning of this
scripture. Ask the kids to help you make a
list on the board of ways Heavenly Father
can help them avoid temptation.

 Reading Assignment For Next Week:
This will help the kids know what scriptures they need to read during the next week and
remind them what they learned in the lesson. We have included 2 sizes, 8.5x11 or 4x6 card
size. The 4x6 cards can be kept in a 4x6 photo album you can purchase at the dollar store.
This is a great way for the kids to remember everything they have learned during the year.
If you choose to use the 8.5x11 size they could be kept in plastic sleeves inside a binder. If
you have kids in your class that do not attend on a regular basis or are inactive these are a
great handout to take them and help them feel included in your class. Encourage them to
fill them in as they read with their families or on their own. Ask them to bring the card
back the next Sunday so they discuss their questions and thoughts.
