POLITICAL CARTOONS AND CARICATURE

An art form which veered away from the classical art by exaggerating human features and
poking fun at its subjects.

Part of the print media as a form of social and political commentary,

Targets person’s of power and authority.

Cartoons became an effective tool of publicizing opinions through heavy use of symbolism,
which is different from a verbose written editorial and opinion pieces.

A Caricature is a rendered image showing the features of its subject in a simplified or


exaggerated way through other artistic drawings. In literature, a caricature is a description of
person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others.

ALFRED W. MCCOY

Alfred McCoy was a professor of history at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he also
serves as director of the Center SE Asian Studies. He's spent the past quarter-century writing
about the politics and history of the opium trade. Alfred was born on June 08, 1945 at Concord,
Massachusetts, United States. His parent was Margarita McCoy.

Alfred Reyes-Roces is a gifted artist-writter from the known Roces clan in Philippine print
media.
