Sub: Circular on implementation of ISPS Code requirement
on Sailing vessels.
1. Further to this office circular No. N.T.BRANCH CIRCULAR
NO.NT/ISPS/06/2008 dated 10th October, 2008 it is hereby directed that all sailing vessel owners prior to approaching this Directorate for issuance of Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR) for their sailing vessels shall follow the procedure prescribed hereunder
(a) On obtaining MMSI No., from the concerned Mercantile
Marine Departments in accordance with letter No.12- NT(1)/2008 dated 6.8.08, for their vessels the sailing vessel owner shall ensure that the approved AIS is programmed by the vendor to include the MMSI details
(b) The Sailing vessel shall be presented to the nearest
Mercantile Marine Department for verification of AIS fitment and its satisfactory functioning.
(c) The concerned officer of the Mercantile Marine
Department shall endorse the certificate of inspection to this effect mentioning the AIS number in the endorsement.
(d) On receipt of a certified copy of certificate of inspection
from the MMD about the fitment and functioning of AIS this Directorate will issue CSR to the vessel provided all other details are furnished in accordance with circular No. NT/ISPS/06/2008 dated 10th October, 2008.
2. Further, the term Ship used in N.T.BRANCH CIRCULAR
NO.NT/ISPS/06/2008 dated 10th October, 2008, shall be read as Vessel.
6. This issues with approval of the Director General of
Shipping.
