This article examines the relationship between adventure tourism and
ageliness from three separate but related perspectives: adventure travel; adventure
in travel; and adventurous aging. It provides a number of recommendations which can
be adopted to increase the number of participants in adventure based tourism within
the older age cohorts, for example distinguishing between hard and soft adventure
and targetting marketing efforts accordingly. Charles Sturt University,
