Briefly discuss the following raster–scan

displays and random scan displays.

Random scan is a method in which the

display is made by the electronic beam,
which is directed, only to the points or
part of the screen where the picture is to
be drawn. The Raster scan system is a
scanning technique in which the
electrons sweep from top to bottom and
from left to right. The intensity is turned
on or off to light and unlight the pixel.

Advantages of Random scan display:
1)high resolution
2)produce smooth line drawings.

Disadvantages of random scan display:

1)costlier
2)just does wire frame.
3)complex scene cause visible flicker.
Advantages of raster scan display:
1)decreasing memory costs have made
raster systems popular.
2)high degree realism is achieved in
picture with the aid of advanced shading
and hidden surface technique.
3)Computer monitors and TVs use this
method

Disadvantages of Raster scan display:

1)the lines produced are zigzag as the
plotted values are discrete.
2)resolution is low.
