Welding sequence for P -91 Material . Material specification ~ SA 335 P 9 . Welding parameters: * * * . . * Filler wire: ER 90S-B9 Pre-heating Temperature: 25°C Inter pass temperaturer ~ 28C — 325°C . PWHT — Rate of heating — 100°C per hour (up to 300°C) Rate of cooling- 100°C per hour (up to 300°C) ‘Soaking temperature - 760 +'- 10°C ‘Soaking time —2 hrs, (Min.) . Welding sequence: . Fit-up to be made ready by maintaining required gap and alignment of pipe ends to be welded. The same materials to be used for clamping purpose with proper pre-heat Start Pre-heating the joint aca with the help of Resistance Heating Coil till it attains a temperature of 250 °C. Proper purging arrangement ‘0 be done. The required pre heat to be done and same to be ensured. Root run of welding to be done with help of TIG welding and maintains ‘the flow rate of purging. Start intermediate run of welding after waiting for 15 minutes ensuring that the Inter-Pass temperatire comes to a level of 280-325 °C, so as to prevent melting and flowing of base metal into weld poo! while making 2h run. Intermediate run of welding is then made, Purging is maintained from outside during Intermediate 1un at the rate of 5 to 7 LPM in the direction of weld. During purging, the movement of the hands should be such that it covers the welding zone at «Il times. Because of this, no gas cavities are formed on the surface. Immediately after completing the Intermediate run, the final run of ‘welding is made with same procedure of purging as above. Before taking the Radiogra shy of the joint, the surface of the joint is prepared by means of grindir g and buffing. If the RT results found satisfactory, PWHT to be done as per the details specified above, © Preheat Temperature - 220° to 300°C ‘* interpass Temperature - 360% * Post Heat = 150° 10°C. © Rate of cooling = 100°C / Hour © Holding = ‘Iwo Hours (Min) + 750+ 10°C ZONE 300°C HEAT OFF STRESS RELIEVING 150+ 10°C HEATON TIME =——__» FOR P91 STEEL © PWHT - 750°C # 10°C © Rate of Heating / Rate of Cooling - 150°C © Soaking time i Minimum Two Hours
