HSC – 7
HOSPICIO DE SAN JOSE

I’ve been to a lot of places, but going to Hospicio De San Jose is completely
different, realizations will definitely hit you once you stepped your foot in that place. Being
there to interact and take care of the kids with special needs I realized that the world you
think you see, is more twisted than you know.
I always complain about my life, I usually think that it’s really hard to survive in this
world, but what happened to the outreach program is really unexpected, I found myself
admiring them on how can they possibly smile, laugh and be happy in their unfortunate
situations and then I become fully aware that, I should stop complaining, I should just
appreciate and be grateful the life that I have right now, because those children and adults
with special needs have far worse experiences than me.
By going to Hospicio De San Jose, helps me to develop my understanding on what
aspects of culture they have, the importance of learning the differences surrounding them
and become aware to their culture that projects their values onto others. It also helps me
to throws light on the problems that they are encountering that leads to solve my curiosity
about their behavior. I also realized that we can learn from one another, but we must have
a level of understanding about each other in order to facilitate collaboration and
cooperation.
The outreach program thought me a lot of good things, contentment of what I have
and care for the people around me. This program also helps me realized that even the
little things you do for others have great impact in their lives and even if we aren’t that
fortunate, it is possible to be happy. The experiences and memories that I gained on the
outreach program are something that I will cherish in my life, I am very grateful that I
become part of it, because the lessons that I’ve learned from it is very important and
essential in getting through life.
