02. GOD MADE YOU DIFFERENT
1 End – Time Messages From Jesus

2 God Made You Different

3 INTRODUCTION
Nowhere in all literature do we find a reasonable, believable story
of the beginning of this earth except in the Bible. The Bible states
that the earth was created by the word of God; not from some kind
of pre-existent matter.

4 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1. This is the simple, direct statement of the beginning of
all creation insofar as this earth is concerned.

5 We find the same simple directness in the record in the New

Testament.

6 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God…”

7 “…He was in the beginning with God. All things were made
through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was
made.”

John 1:1-3

8 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we
beheld His glory,…”

9 “…the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth.”
John 1:14

10 A THE STORY OF CREATION

11 1. The creation of light.

12 The very next act in creation was the creation of light “And God
said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
Genesis 1:3

Page 2

02. GOD MADE YOU DIFFERENT
13 The creation of light demonstrates the absolute omnipotence (total
power) of God. Have you ever tried to create light without a
source? Only God could do that, and I think He did it to show that
He did not need to depend on any pre-existent source to do as He
wished.

14 2. The creation of vegetation, sea and animal life.

15 As we read on in the story of creation we find the successive

creation of vegetation—which could not have lived without light—
then the creation of the sun, the creation of sea and animal life in
the earth, and finally we come to an abrupt and surprising change
in creation.

16 3. A new page in the creation story.

17 “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to

Our likeness;…”

18 “…let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the
birds of the air, and over the cattle,…”

19 “…over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps
on the earth.” Genesis 1:26

20 “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,

And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”

21 “He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up

the deep in storehouses.”

22 “Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the
world stand in awe of Him.”

23 “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood

fast.”
Psalm 33:6,9

24 What was different about the creation of man? God had created the
earth, light, water, fish, animals and vegetation by what we call fiat.
He just spoke the word and creation was done. But with man, He
did something more.

25 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a
living being.”
Genesis 2:7

26 This is one of the most important verses in the Bible because it not
only tells us that man was created by God’s hands, forming him, but
it also tells a great deal about the very nature of man.

27 4. Why man was created with freedom of choice.

28 Man was to be unique in another respect. He was given free choice.

He could choose to do good or to do evil. We will find out more
about that a little later. But animals do not have this gift.
God created man because he wanted companionship. This, animals
could give only in a limited sense. If you were to be left completely
isolated in some part of the earth, which would you choose as a
companion: a mechanical contrivance of some kind, an animal, or
another human being? I think the answer is easy.

29 A young man was left to care for some property in a remote part of
the Rocky Mountains. It was ten miles to the nearest town. There
were no neighbors within probably half that distance and he was on
foot. He could not see or hear any other human being and could not
leave. It was absolutely incredible how slowly the time passed and
how lonely he felt. The sensation was something he was completely
unprepared for, but it was not pleasant. By the afternoon of the
second day he would have welcomed the most undesirable person
he could think of, just to have someone to talk to. He was not
lonesome for a dog, or a cat, or a machine—although a radio would
have helped, had there been a station within receiving distance. He

craved human companionship.

30 B. THE DIRECT HANDIWORK OF GOD

31 “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful
and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; …”

32 “…have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the
air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:28.

33 1. The unique nature of free moral choice. Man is the only creature
that was given the power of free choice. He is the only one to
whom God said, “Thou shalt,” and “Thou shalt not.” Animals do
not have this power. They have instinct.

34 A family in Singapore had a small monkey they had raised from a

baby. Robert took him food that he liked.
They often played together, Jojo, the monkey, and Robert, his
friend. He would let Robert be quite rough with him; in fact he
enjoyed it. He would growl and take Robert’s wrist between his
strong jaws and pretend to bite him, but he never did.

02. GOD MADE YOU DIFFERENT
35 But when Robert offered him food, he would take it and
immediately go into the far corner of his cage. That was instinct. He
would know, if he thought about it at all, that Robert would not take
it from him, but instinct told him to be sure. He could not help
himself. He did not have the free power of choice.

36 A man may become a devil or a saint; it depends on the choices he
makes. Good animals or bad animals are largely so by the
definitions we use about them.

37 2.   Every man different from any other man.

38 Even more starling is the fact that every man on this earth is
different from every other man. We all know about fingerprints.
There is no case on record of any two sets of fingerprints being
found that are exactly identical. Scientists now tell us that under a
microscope the hair on our heads is also distinctive; no one else has
hair just exactly like ours. God is the God of infinite variety, infinite
care and infinite love.

39 CONCLUSION AND APPEAL

40 When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden He said,
“Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree
of the knowledge of …”

41 “…of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat
of it you shall surely die.”
Genesis 2:16, 17.

42 God did not build a fence around this tree, but He did tell Adam and
Eve to let it alone.
But in addition to Adam and Eve and the birds and animals on earth
there was a being called Satan who had rebelled against God in
heaven and was now on earth. He did not believe in law, but in
license to do as one pleased.

43 The third chapter of Genesis tells the story of Eve going to the
forbidden tree and there Satan was waiting for her.

44 “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field
which the Lord God had made…”

45 “And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall
not eat of every tree of the garden?’…”

46 “…And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of
the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of…”

47 “…the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said,
‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die…”

48 “…Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely
die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will
be opened, and…”

49 “…you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,…”

50 “…that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to

make…”

51 “…one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her
husband with her, and he ate. Genesis 3:1-6.

02. GOD MADE YOU DIFFERENT
52 This was the beginning of evil on this earth and with it came the
heritage that prompts every one of us at times to be inclined to
disobey God.

53 The very hour that Adam and Eve disobeyed God, the
consequences set in. The climate that had been absolutely perfect
no longer was perfect. A chill came that Adam and Eve did not like.
Death began almost at once. For the first time in their lives they
saw leaves curl up and turn yellow and fall.

54 War broke out in the animal world and animals began to kill and eat
each other. What a feeling of despair must have entered the hearts
of the two sinners!

55 The very next chapter of the Bible records the first murder!

56 But God was not surprised. He was a sorrowful Witness to all that
took place and His love was just as strong after the sin as it had
been before. Revelation 13:8 speaks of “the book of life of the
Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

57 Because God gave man free choice, He knew that there would be
the possibility of sin. So, before the earth was created and man was
created upon it, Jesus offered to put Himself in the place of man,
the sinner, to die in his stead.
We can hardly grasp what this meant. Jesus did not only die a
physical death by the hands of torturers, but He took upon Himself
the sin of man, and for Jesus this was much worse than physical

death.

58 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life
for his friends,” Jesus said as recorded in John 15:13.

59 During World War II the Japanese built a railroad into Burma from
the West through the valley of the River Qwai. And they built it
with slave labor furnished by English soldiers they had captured.
Hundreds of men died building this railroad, from sickness, from
bad treatment and from hunger.

60 At the end of one work day a Japanese officer had his work squad
line up. Then he told them that he had counted the shovels that had
been issued that morning, and one shovel was missing. He wanted
them to produce the shovel. When they did not do so he flew into a
rage and said that he would have the whole squad executed unless
the shovel was produced.
He meant every word that he said, for human life meant little in
time of war.
After a tense wait, an English officer stepped forward and said that
he had stolen the shovel and hidden it in the jungle. The maddened
Japanese officer took his rifle and beat the poor, half-starved
Englishman to death.

61 When the detail got back to camp, they found the missing shovel in
the tool shed where it had been all the time, overlooked when the
detail had gone out in the morning.
This heroic English soldier gave his life to save that of the rest of
the squad. They were his friends. He laid down his life for them.

62 Jesus did more; He laid down His life for His enemies.
