Why is this medicine prescribed to you?
Hydrocortisone topical is prescribed to treat the swelling,
itching and redness associated with certain skin disorders.
How do you use it?
Use hydrocortisone topical exactly as instructed by your
doctor for it to be effective.
• Hydrocortisone topical is for use on the skin only.
• Wash the affected area and dry well before applying a
thin film of this medicine on the affected areas only.
Rub it in gently. Wash and dry your hands before and
after applying this medicine, unless you are using this
medicine to treat your hands.
• Do not use more amounts or more often than what is
prescribed, or use for a longer period or on a larger skin
area than prescribed by your doctor.
• Do not cover the treated area with plastic or waterproof
bandage or covering, unless advised by your doctor.
• Avoid prolonged use of this medicine on the face,
genital or rectal areas, or underarms unless directed by
your doctor.
• Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, nose or mouth.
If you accidentally get it in any of these areas, wash
thoroughly with water.
• If you forget to use this medicine on schedule, use it
immediately as you remember. However, if it is already
time for the next dose, just proceed with your next
regular dose schedule.
• Do not stop use unless advised by your doctor.

your progress while under treatment with this medicine.
• If you need to undergo surgery or dental procedure,
you must first inform your doctor or dentist that you are
using this medicine before going through it.
• Side effects may possibly occur as with most medicines.
You may not experience any side effect; however, if you
experience any of these side effects with hydrocortisone
topical, you have to inform your doctor immediately,
especially if they become severe or persistent:
itching, burning, irritation, redness or dryness on
treated skin; acne, skin thinning or discoloration,
swollen hair follicles, stretch marks, increased hair
growth and allergic reactions such as hives, difficulty
breathing and swelling of the face, lips, tongue or
throat.
• The side effects mentioned here are not complete and
others may occur. If you observe other side effects or
reactions, you have to call your doctor for advice.*
• You must not share your medicine with others even if
you have the same disease symptoms.
