WILF: an information text containing facts, with a ‘hook’ introduction, body and conclusion

Australia now has one of the highest rates of greenhouse gas emissions per capita in the world. We
are the champs of pollution. How? Why? Blame coal: we are cursed with an abundance of coal.

We are using so much coal we need to build lots of coal factories which is wasting so much land. The
problem is every time we burn coal we let, coal with a carbon content of 78 percent and a heating
value of 14,000 Btu per pound emits about 204.3 pounds of carbon dioxide per million Btu when
completely burned. Complete combustion of 1 short ton (2,000 pounds) of this coal will generate
about 5,720 pounds (2.86 short tons) of carbon dioxide.

If we left a light on for a bit some people wouldn’t care but that is wasting electricity, so much if you
wanted to leave your light on a bit longer you should buy Solar panels because when using solar
panels it doesn’t use electricity it uses solar from the sun. We can also not have long showers have a
short 1 to 2 minutes so your not wasting water.

I think an alternative to fossil fuels is to use solar power and wind power. Solar power means Solar
power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics
(PV), indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated solar power systems
use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight, into a small beam and
wind power is when wind travels and makes the wind turbines move which creates try to not use
coal, reduce our coal mines and reduce our coal factories.

If we don’t stop using fossil fuels half the world will be under water by 2100. Because of climate
change. So if we don’t stop using unsustainable things we will all die because we will all drown. For
