APPLICABLE MODEL TURBOCHARGER SYSTEM

PRECAUTIONS WHEN START AND/OR STOP THE ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH TURBOCHARGER

INFORMATION

The turbocharger system uses engine oil for lubrication and cooling of its rotating components.
The turbine of the turbocharger spins extremely high speed and its temperature can reach extremely
high. Therefore, it is essential for the turbocharger to maintain oil flow through the lubrication
system in the turbocharger. A sudden interruption of oil supply may cause damage in the turbo-
charger.

CAUTION
1. Lubrication
Caution at the situation below.
・ Long storage of the engine without operation-------- Refer to 1) ~ 3) below.
  ・ Replaced turbocharger----------------------------------------- Refer to 1) ~ 3) below.
・ After overhauled engine--------------------------------------- Refer to 1) ~ 3) below.
・ After engine oil and filter replaced------------------------- Refer to 3) below.

1) Sufficiently pour new engine oil into the center housing

through the oil inlet as shown in the sketch. oil inlet
2) Manually rotate the compressor wheel and turbine wheel
to make sure the two wheels rotate smoothly without
binding.
3) While pulling the engine stop lever, crank the engine
until the oil pressure gauge ativates or oil pressure
warning lamp turn off for enough lubrication.

2. Daily operation
1) Do not accelerate engine to high rpm immediately after start.
2) Keep the engine idling until the oil pressure gauge activates or oil
pressure warning lamp turn off for enough lubrication in the line.
3) Make sure to idle the engine for 3 to 5 minutes before stopping the
engine after vehicle operation.
