GRUB menu does not appear

If the computer boots into Ubuntu automatically without showing the GRUB menu at
all, sometimes you can press the manufacturer's BIOS/UEFI key at boot time and
while in UEFI or BIOS mode from the firmware menus select the operating system you
need. Common keys used are Esc, Delete, F1, F2, F10, F11, or F12. On tablets,
common buttons are Volume up or Volume down. During startup, there's often a screen
that mentions the key. If there's not one, or if the screen goes by too fast to see
it, check your manufacturer's website.*

If this doesn't work when the GRUB menu does not appear at boot time, immediately
after the BIOS/UEFI splash screen during boot, with BIOS, quickly press and hold
the Shift key, which will bring up a GNU GRUB menu screen. With UEFI press (perhaps
several times) the Esc key to get to the GNU GRUB menu screen. Sometimes the
manufacturer's splash screen is a part of the Windows bootloader, so when you power
up the machine it goes straight to the GNU GRUB menu screen, and then pressing
Shift is unnecessary.
