The ball of the seasons – Season, The Prince

Once upon a time there were four sisters, so beautiful, just like flowers. Their names were
Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. At each of their birth, their father the king invited the
kindest fairies in the entire world just to wish them happiness and all the best.
The queen died after giving birth to the fourth daughter leaving the king by himself and
forcing him to raise the girls all alone. Years passed by and the princesses were blossoming. All
day long the girls were walking through the palace gardens being admired and loved by
everybody. They were graceful, kind, beautiful and wise. Many royal young men came from all
over the world to ask for their hand, but the girls refused all the proposals.
One summer morning when the sun was barely shinning, a messenger came to the palace
bringing invitations to the Season`s Queen ball. The girls were pleased and kept thinking about
the royal party.
The day of the ball came and the princesses prepared all day long so that they could be
the most elegant guests. Spring wore a green long dress with snowdrops on it which emphasized
the colours of her eyes. Summer chose a yellow dress which emphasized her pleasant figure.
Autumn had an orange dress with lots of furbelows and Winter put on a white dress with a red
rose on her tight waist. All of them got a nice carriage and were led to the ball.
The ball room was full and when the princesses appeared everyone stared at them. The
girls mingled with the crowd making it even more shinning than before. When everybody
thought the ball was over, the prince appeared. His name was Season. He had bright clothes and
a sword. His ebony hair was long and his eyes were dashing on his handsome face.
The prince glared at the four sisters then he invited Summer for a dance. The danced for a
few minutes and then the young man asked the other sisters for a dance, as well. All the girls fell
in love with him, but when the morning came the prince left without a word. The princesses
cried for days because the prince did not feel the same way the girls did.
After a while, seeing his daughters sad, the king sent word to the young prince. The
prince came and had a discussion with the king telling him that he found all of his daughters
charming, but he could not choose one because of that reason. They decided to challenge the
girls to prove which one loved him the most and had the best qualities. He told them to bring him
colours from the rainbow. The girls managed to complete their challenge. Summer brought
yellow, Spring got green, Autumn carried orange and Winter brought blue.
We do not know if the prince has chosen any of the four daughters, but what we know is
that this is the way the colourful four seasons appeared.

Traveller among the words – No rules!

Everywhere around me all I hear is: No rules! Wow! What a wonderful world this would
be! Rules are made by words, but what would happen if there would be no rules and no words to
express those rules? I mean…. No rules signifies no school, right? And no uniforms or
homework, or getting up early in the morning! Life would be a never-ending vacation with lots
of hours of sleep and tones of sugar!
I know some kids who would really adore this type of organization. Happy songs in the
air and people dancing everywhere in the streets day and night, but how would music sound with
no words and how would people express their thoughts? What would happiness be if there were
no words to say when you feel happy?
But, if I think twice, I guess it would be wrong, totally wrong! If everybody sleeps and
dances, who will work then? We need miners to dig to the heart of the Earth and bring out coal
and fuel; we need pilots to fly us up in the skies and take people to the farthest corners of the
world; we need doctors to cure our sickness and teachers to educate our minds and instincts…
and we need WORDS to give a meaning to all of the above.
Words, rules, law and order are necessary to sustain a civilized society. Humans are
generally prone to laziness and day dreaming. We are taught words and responsibility from an
early age and rules should not scare us, on the contrary. Words and rules vouch for a safe world
where good and evil exist in a very frail balance.
We must not feel limited by words or rules. Limits exist only in our minds. A smart, kind
person knows how to make the difference between right and wrong. Unfortunately, not all of us
are bright and kind hearted. Rules have to be enforced when violent children or adults do not
respect the law and words are used with the purpose of explaining what they did wrong. But,
words are sometimes misunderstood and people sometimes ignore words because they think they
know better.
I think words and rules are the way for our families and our planet to evolve. What I
would honestly do is: I would remove some interdictions concerning chocolate eating. Chocolate
makes us happy and when we are happy we use beautiful, kind and honest words. This would
make my no rules world one made of white candy, greenish mind plains and oceans of dark
chocolate and islands of joy made by words. A beautiful world made of sweet words and sweet
rules!
