The Government of Madhya Pradesh vide order dated 1 st of July, 2002 Incorporated Madhya

Pradesh PoorvKshetraVidyutVitran Company Limited as a wholly owned Government of Madhya


Pradesh Corporations under the Companies ACT, 1956 to undertake activities of distribution and
retail supply for and on behalf of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board in the areas covered by
the Commissionaires of Jabalpur, Sager and Rewa.

Go MP proposed a transient phase in which the assets and liabilities would continue to be
serviced by the board, with only the operational activities being vested onto this new Company.
Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory commission in the order dated 16th JULY, 02 has granted
approval to this Operation and Management Arrangement for facilitating the process of reform and
reorganization and bringing in economy and efficiency in the operational activities of electricity
sector.

PoorvKshetra encompasses an area 135162 SQ KM served by 111273 cktkms of HT


and 110614 ckt km of LT distribution network. The size of the administrative set-up is as

The Central Training Institute (CTI) , Nayagaon Jabalpur (M.P.) India and is
apex training Institute of MPPKVVCL (wholly owned by the Government of Madhya
Pradesh) which provide Induction training, Refresher training , On-job Training and
rotational training to all employees of MPPKVVCL.

The present employee strength is about 13 thousands which includes officers (class-
I and II), Engineers, Programmers, Accounts Officer, HR Managers, Technical staff such
as line men, Non-Technical staff such as office assistants, testing assistants etc.

OBJECTIVE OF COMPANY

The main objectives are to achieve efficiency gain and making necessary changes to make the
company commercially viable, progressively self sustainable and less Govt. dependent and at the
same time, balancing the interest of the consumers in regard to quality of service and economical
tariff. The plan includes among the other things, metering , billing, collections identify the present
deficiencies and the improvements to be make, mapping supply feeders measurements of a energy
supply to feeder and addict, study of losses and scheme for progressive reduction, in input cost,
consumer affairs handling, investment required for improvement in the distribution system etc…

 According to Madhya Pradesh electricity reformation at 2000, in 1stjuly 2002. Five companies
were found

1. M.P Power Transmission Co. Ltd. Jabalpur TRANSCO (covering whole state of Madhya
Pradesh)

2. M.P Power generating Co. Ltd. Jabalpur GENCO (covering whole state of Madhya Pradesh)

3. M.P Poorvakshetravidyutvitaran Co. Ltd. DISCOM East Zone (covering Jabalpur, sagar and
rewa region)

4. M.P Madhya Pradesh vidyutvitaranco.Ltd. DISCOM central zone (covering Bhopal and Gwalior
region)

5. M.P PaschimKshetravidyutvitaranco.Ltd. DISCOM WEST zone (covering Indore and Ujjain


region)

TRANSCO (Transmission Company)

TANSCO means the M.P power transmission company limited, a company incorporated with the
main object of undertaking the transmission of electricity in the state of M.P

GENCO (GENERATION COMPANY)

GENCO means the M.P power generation company limited ,a company incorporated with the main
object of generation of electricity in the state of M.P
DISCOM 1(DISTRIBUTION COMPANY)

DISCOM 1 company means M.P poorvakshetravidyutvitaran company limited , a company


incorporated with the main object of undertaking electricity distribution and retail supplies in
commissionaires of Jabalpur and rewa and sagar of state of M.P[

DISCOM 2(DISTRIBUTION COMPANY 2)

DISCOM 2 means M.P Madhya Kshetravidyutvitaran Company limited, a company incorporated


with the main object of undertaking electricity distribution and retail supply in the commissionaires
of Bhopal, hoshangabad Chambal and Gwalior of state of M.P
DISCOM 3 (DISTRIBUTION COMPANY 3)

DISCOM 3 means M.P pashimkshetravidyutvitaran company ltd… a company incorporated with


the main object of under taking electricity distribution and retail and supply in the commissionaires
of Indore and Ujjain of the state of M.P

TRADCO (POWER TRADING COMPANY)

TRADCO means M.P power trading company ltd..a company incorporated recently by the board
with the main object of the under taking electricity trading.

Literature review

In the changing phase of the market, all organizations have a number of opportunities to grab and

Conceptual Background

 Historical Profile of Events

The Electricity (SUPPLY) ACT, 1948 landmark in the history of power development in
our country. Conceived in the background of post war reconstruction and development of electricity
on a regional basis to enable centralized generation, bulk supply and systematic distribution in an
efficient and Economical manner under the control and direction of one authority. This laid down
the basis for the formation of state Electricity boards.

The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board was the first board to be formed in the country on 9
Dec. 1950. At that time the jurisdiction of the Board covered the Mahakaushal region of the present
state of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region of the present Maharashtra State.

The board in its present form was constituted with Effect from the 01 April 1957 in
pursuance of the state, Re- Organization Act 1956. Thus its jurisdiction extends to the whole of the
State of Madhya Pradesh. Established 1950, By the covenant of Government, the Madhya Pradesh
Electricity Board for the M.P.S.E.B has successfully shouldered the awesome responsibility of
making the power reach to millions in the gigantic state of Madhya Pradesh. Responsible for the
generation, transmission and distribution, Of electricity, the M.P.S.E.B has recorded significant and
consistent success in providing vitally needed power to the industrial, agricultural, commercial and
domestic sectors.

One of the oldest Electricity boards in the country, the M.P.S.E.B has truly grown in every dimension over
the last four decades. Barely seven years after its inception, the electricity department of functional Madhya
Pradesh Bharat, Vindhya Pradesh and Bhopal were merged into it enlarging its functional areas enormously.
With headquarters as Shakti Bhawan Jabalpur, the board is functionally divided into eight regions. Its
manpower strength of almost a hundred thousand personnel, spread throughout Madhya Pradesh ensures the
M.P.S.E.B. has filled an ongoing dedication to its mission-socially committed
M.P.S.E.B as an Organization

The constitution and composition of The State Electricity Boards is laid down under section of
electricity (supply) Act, 1948. Accordingly the board shall consist of not less than three and not more than
seven members appointed by the state government, on of whom would be appointed by the state
government. on of whom would be appointed a Chairmen. The Chairmen conduct its full time conduct the
day to day work. The ex-official members the attend the meeting of the Board and they represent the
policy of government.
