You are on page 1of 1

We understand that you have not been able to find the skill element in the skill dictionary and

hence
would like to request for the same to be added to X.O. However, we request you to religiously go
through the following points prior to raising this request so that the understanding of the framework is
clear and the request is then aligned to the same.

1. The philosophy of X.O coupled with continuous learning being the objective, is not to map
one’s existing skill set to the framework. The framework is designed to enable employees to
broaden their horizon and develop a broader, more comprehensive skill set for both Skill 1 and
Skill 2. This is our roadmap to maintaining and increasing relevance in the market, from an
employee standpoint as well as from an organizational standpoint.

2. Also, X.O Skill Dictionary is designed basis technologies and technology buckets, like Java
Backend, Blockchain, Big Data and so on. Tools have not been included categorically since
they do not comprise technologies – barring a couple of exceptions like Facets with the
Delivery Head Approval. The reason this is done is because once a user understands one
technology, it is not very challenging to pick up the tools associated with it.

3. The Skill Dictionary is designed to be in complete alignment with Tech Relevance Index and
hence inclusion of any Skill Element will be evaluated by the TRI Board in the coming H1/H2
cycle basis multiple parameters like number of resources working on the technology, project
pipeline for the technology, market relevance and so on.

4. In case you do not find the specific technology or skill element you are searching for, you
might have to select the nearest relevant skill in this scenario. Try various combinations such
as Dev Ops or DevOps to search a skill element before you raise a request. You may first
refer the TRI page before selecting a skill.

5. One aspect we suggest while selecting the nearest relevant skill is that you might have a base
on various other technologies based on which they have branched out to specialize in this
specific technology. While having specialized expertise is good, selection of the core and invest
skill elements need be focused on for organization and industry relevance.

6. We recommend you connect with your reporting manager and discuss the possible skill
elements suitable to your profile.

7. In case you still feel the need to raise a request to get the skill element added, fill up the
required form and along with an approval from your delivery head, share the updated Excel to
Nair, Nidhi Nidhi_Nair@syntelinc.com
Subject: Request to add skill element to the skill dictionary.

Request to add skill

Note: Sharing above details in the email does not assure that the skill element gets added. In
addition to point 3, the data will be tabled across the TRI board and only if the request is
justified, a skill element would be considered for addition in the next 6 months cycle.
