ii Osprey Connect Release Notes

Osprey Connect v2008.1
Osprey Connect (formely Real-Time Data Link or RTDL) simplifies the creation of
applications requiring access to real-time drilling data on a Windows platform;
reduces Time/Support required from RT Source Team and risk for RT Applications
such as InterACT, IDEAL, and Horizon; as well as provides the end user with a
consistent and intelligent user interface (UI) for establishing a real-time connection
across multiple Osprey Connect enabled applications.
Osprey Connect solves issues for three sets of users – the end users, the application
development teams, and the real-time source teams. The issues solved for each
user group are:
• For the end users, Osprey Connect provides a common UI and ultimately a
multitude of adapters that can intelligently connect to a source of real-time
drilling data.
• For the application development teams, Osprey Connect provides a common API
that is completely independent of the real-time source being accessed. Time is no
longer an issue as it relates to developing a UI that enables users to connect to a
real-time source. Osprey Connect provides all UI for the end users connection.
• For the real-time source teams, only one connection to provide real-time data
needs to be addressed. Real-time enables all existing and new applications that
are Osprey Connect enabled.

Changes in v2008.1
Osprey Connect v2008.1 provides the following features and enhancements:
• Connect to Real-Time Data Server. New servers (RigLink, Insite, etc.) were added.
• Load Tubular Objects, wbGeometry and mudLogs
• Execute multiple instances of RTDL within one application (ability to connect to
multiple wells, servers, concurrently)
• Publish data to WITSML Sources
• Improve navigation
• Verify Osprey Connect software is Licensed
• Connect through Proxy Server
