Anjalendran graduated from the University College of London and attained his M.Sc. from the University of London. On his return having completed his PG. Studio, he was fascinated by the central question facing Sri Lankan Architecture - the Continuity and the context of the traditional in relation to modern Iife-styles and aspirations. He feels that unlike all other arts which may portray the contradictions of daily life in particular with underdevelopment ‘and terrorism, architecture must celebrate life, He is weary of an architecture which is merely serious or even just a facade, devoid of the wit and humor of life. Given such considerations, he choose not to do a commercial sort of architecture, concentrating rather in evolving an economical aesthetic of everyday life with an affinity to the unpretentious and often unnoticed peasant vernacular: He has been in independent practice for 16 years and represented Sri Lanka at “Roots : Innovation and Tradition in Asian Architecture Today” at the Fujita Venta Museum, Tokyo in 1996, He has to his credit Ambalama - litle crest shaped pavilion at Karagahagedera in Kurunagale, Anjalendran House at Battaramulla, SOS Village at Anuradapura and Jewellery Making Lapidary and Offices at Nugegoda all in Sri Lanka to name a few.
