DEPARTMENT OF ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES

Course Title: Introduction to Entrepreneurship

PREAMBLE:

Entrepreneurship is a concept that has recently gained global and regional recognition
especially that it creates a landscape on which development efforts have been conspicuously
appreciated. In this regard, it is prudent for any credible regime to consider imparting
entrepreneurship skills to its citizenry to enhance capabilities and realize potential for self-
economic determination, income generation and ultimately poverty reduction. To this effect,
this intensive course lays a podium on which such worthwhile skills can be inculcated in the
students in the quest for self-employment and realization of idle development potential.

AIM:

Knowledge is power but it can be power without being powerful until an enabling
environment has been created from which the sought knowledge can be acquired. The course
aims at pioneering entrepreneurship skills as a weapon of economic freedom so that
knowledge does not only become power but powerful instrument of curbing unemployment
and ultimately the scourge of poverty.
