CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The development of Augmented Reality Contour and Topographic Mapping Interactive Sandbox
Learning Device was described through the research paradigm as shown below.

The Conceive part included the knowledge required in the study such as general knowledge in
contour and topographic mapping, and geology. Also, it contained additional information about sands
such as its types and properties to project an image of the topographic contour lines. Aside from that,
basic knowledge in software and hardware is needed to accomplish many different tasks and to help us
to efficiently use computer programs and applications.

The design part was compromised with the system components, material specification and
safety mechanisms to provide a design layout for the apparatus. AutoCAD or SketchUp will be used for
the lay out of the design. The system will teach us geographic, geologic, and hydrologic concepts such as
how to read a topography map, the meaning of contour lines, watersheds, catchment area, etc.

The implementation part was connected to the design part. The layouts and appropriate
materials including specifications will be used for the fabrication of the machine. The machine shop will
be chosen carefully for the fabrication will be monitored to check the design consideration such as
material specification and safety mechanisms. System configuration will be conducted to install the
operating system and AR Sandbox System. After some modifications, preliminary testing will be
executed in order to evaluate the performance of the apparatus and software in terms of its established
parameters such as: start up speed, rendering accuracy, image capture ad projection, and sand
compatibility.

The operation part included the study that will present the design and the development of
Augment Reality Contour and Topographic Mapping Interactive Sandbox Learning device as the final
output. The end user will be provided an operation, and maintenance for the fabricated machine. This
will serve as a guide in machine operation, maintenance and repair for the fabricated machine.
