Q-2 Determine the suitable number of slots and conductors per slots, for the stator winding of
a 3 phase 3300 V, 50 Hz, 300 rpm alternator. The diameter is 2.3 m and axial length of
core is 0.35 m. the maximum flux density in the air gap should be approximately 0.9
wb/m''. Assume sinusoidal flux distribution. Use single layer winding and star connection

Find the main dimensions of a 2500 KVA, 187.5 rpm, 50 HZ, 3 phase, 3 KY, salient pole
synchronous generator. The generator is to be a vertical, water wheel type. The specific
magnetic loading is 0.6 wb/rrr' and the specific electrical loading is 34000 Aim. Consider
core length to pole pitch ratio=0.65. Assume run away speed is about 2 times rated speed.
Choose proper type of pole and pole construction. Justify your answer.
