Love, Simon

A Reflective Essay

Love, Simon is a typical cliché movie which is all about homosexual romance and highlights

LGBTQ+ when it comes to this matter. All throughout the movie, Simon was controlling to

express who he really is due to the possible judgements of people. Nowadays, story such as this

is common wherein a part of LGBTQ+ community felt sacred for such judgements if ever it will

be then confessed. The fact that LGBTQ+ members are prone to such discrimination,

depression, constraint and anything hurtful, there are such possiblities that there are no way

they are going to unleash who they really are since the world is full of judgemental people.

Thus, some LGBTQ+ members choose not to further confess something but in the end, there are

no such thing as hidden secrets.

When Simon forcefully confessed who he really was because of such blackmail, closest friend of

him felt disappointed since for a long time, they did not know who the person they are trying to

be into. There is certainly no doubt that after all the happenings, there were bullying exist and

discrimination because of his sexual orientation and gender identity. After all, he did not mind

all of it because it is him, the true him. Moreover, it has been settled when he confessed

something on the school's creeksecrets which is why he was then accepted of who he really was

and even supported him all throughout. His family, friends and schoolmates then finally

embraced his true colors as he choose to be gay forever and to be with the person he loves

where he met happiness.

Whatever the secrets are, there will be times that it will get revealed. You cannot live all

throughout your life choking yourself with such unfamiliar mask because that is not you. In this

sense, you are just pushing freedom away since you are afraid of judgements. We have to be

ourselves and we should not pretend nor fake ourselves to others for just mere praise.

Whatever happens we should stay who we really are without minding all those negativities for

us to live freedom and happiness eternally.
