 Language testing is the practice and study of evaluating the proficiency an


individual in using particular language effectively.
 Language evaluation is the process of making judgments based on criteria and
avidence.

2. The purpose of a language test is to determine a person’ knowledge and ability in the
language and to discriminate that person’s ability from that of others.
The objective is to set tasks or goals that a person wishes to accomplish.

3. A good test which measures control of grammar should have no difficult lexical items.

4. Parallel form : different people, same time, and different test. Paraell form reability
evaluates different questions and question sets that seeks to assess the same construct.

Example : An experimenter develops a large set of questions.

Test retest : same people, different times.

Example : In the development of national school test, a class of children are given several
tests that are intended to assess the same abilities.

Split-half : a test for a single knowledge area is split into two parts and then both parts
given to one group of students at the same time.
