Summertime Fun

This quick listening game will give lots of

practice in listening for summertime and water
activities. Move the hands as you hear the
speaker say “The boy with the red bathing suite
is swimming with flippers.”

Step 1: Print your two sheets onto cardstock

paper. Use stick glue to back the two sheets
onto cereal box cardboard.

Step 2: Cut out your two circles and the red

and yellow arrows that go with each. Poke a
hole through the small circle at the base of each
arrow and at the center of each circle.

Step 3: Use a round head fastener to attach

two arrow “hands” through the center of each
large circle. Place the yellow hand below the
red hand. Open the round head fasteners at the
back and make sure that each arrow hand
moves freely.

To Play: There should be two players. Each

player should have the circle with two hands.
Player 1 starts as the Speaker. He should keep
his circle hidden as he moves the red hand to a
character on the left and the yellow circle to an object on the right. He should say a sentence that connects those two
things to the Listener. For example, “The boy with the water wings is swimming with flippers.” The Listener should
then in clear view move his arrows to match the sentence heard. When the Speaker sees that the Listener has been
successful, he can then praise the Listener and show his won circle so that everyone can see that they match. The Players
should then switch roles: Player 2 becomes the Speaker and Player 1 now acts as the Listener.

This can be an activity that you do between turns in quick turn game like Kerplunk, travel edition Crocodiles Dentist, or
any dice board game. Have the players listen and move his arrows correctly before he gets a turn.

Have Fun!
