place on their freedom. At the present, our independence has been questioned especially in

The goal or objectives have failed to achieve and protect properly.

5. Analyse the speech of Corazon Aquino, what is in the speech that convince the House
of Representative grants the 200 million dollar emergency aid to the Philippines? How
will you connect Corazon Aquino’s speech to the present situations in our country?

Answer:
Corazon Aquino speech convince the house of representative grants the 200 million
dollar emergency aid in the Philippines. "I will not betray the cause of peace by which I came to
power." "Today, face the aspiration of a people who had known so much poverty and massive
unemployment for the past 14 years and yet offered their lives for the abstraction of
democracy." "Whenever I went in the campaign, slum area or improverished village they came
to me with one cry democracy! Not food, although they clearly needed it but democracy. Not
work, although they surely wanted it but democracy. Not money, for they gave what little they
had to my campaign. They didn't expect me to work a miracle instantly put food into their
mouths, clothes on their back, education in their children, and work that will put dignity in their
lives."

Though this would be one of many speeches that Cory Aquino would deliver as President
of the Philippines, it was this speech that gave credence to the People Power Revolution not
only to the Americans but to the world---that change was possible through peaceful means.
