Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN
agency in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-
governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit
of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

position of Intern (Immigration and Border Management Project). The success candidate

I. Context:
Under direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant and the overall supervision of the Project
Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to assist in the implementation of the IBM Division’s
messaging campaign towards the migrant and coastal communities. He/she shall also become
familiar with the IBM activities in Indonesia and IOM Indonesia programmes as a whole as well as
the challenges of tackling the smuggling of migrants in Indonesia as it relates specifically with the
aforementioned communities.

II. Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
1. Assist the Senior Project Assistant in maintaining and updating all data collection related to the
programme to be able to demonstrate to partners the effectiveness of the project.
2. Provide assistance in the coordination of multiple visits to target areas around Indonesia,
including any travel and logistical needs required.
3. Assists in the preparation of any meetings and group discussions involving any relevant partners
relating to the development and implementation of IBM’s messaging campaign.
4. Assist in the preparation and documentation of any reports related to IBM messaging activities.
5. Assist the Project Administrative Assistant in tracking and verifying all payments related to IBM
activities and ensure the validity of their supporting documents.
6. Assist in the preparation of Purchase Request Forms and other administrative-related tasks
while providing input in terms of planning on the administration, finance and logistical
coordination side.
7. Provide assistance in reviewing various project publications.
8. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

III. Required Qualifications and Experience:


Education
Applicants enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum
under-graduate school) in International Relations, Social Science, Law, and others at the time of
application of internship; and/or applicants who are enrolled in a second university degree (graduate
school/equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree within one year of graduation.

Experience
• Previous experience in the field of logistical preparation of awareness-raising events;
• Experience in provision of community-based activities are considered an asset and will be
highly regarded;
• Experience in organizing public events are considered an asset and will be highly regarded;
• Ability to write clear and concise reports;
• Good level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word is
required.

Languages
Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia both oral and written is required.
