 Setting:
The time and place in which it happens. Authors often use
descriptions of cities, land scape, scenery, buildings, seasons or
weather to provide a strong sense of setting.
 Characterization:
The means an author use to describe a character for the reader.
The brevity of a short story ensures that there will be few
characters.
 Plot:

things that happen in the story. The plot draws the readers into
the characters life and helps the reader understand the choices
that the characters make.
 Conflict:

main character struggles against some other forces. This type of
conflict is what drives each story. Without it, the story would have
no point or purpose.
 Climax:
Term used to refer to the part of the story where the tension or
action reaches its highest part. Sometimes the climax is a “crisis”
point in the plot. The climax is represented by the highest point
and the action of the story beings to fall from there until problems
are resolved.
 Resolution:
Part of the story plot where the main problem is resolved or
worked out.
 Theme:
This is the underlying message or “big idea” about the story.
 Point of view:
This refer to who is telling or narrating a story. A story can be
narrated in different ways; first, second or third person. The
writher uses the point of view to express personal emotions of
either themselves or their characters.
