Is there a significant difference in the job performance of private and public


teachers in Metro Manila?

Based on item 3 research problem and result, answer the following:

a. State the type of data analysis.


Answer:
- The type of data analysis in this research problem is bivariate analysis by using z-test

b. State the null hypothesis.


Answer:
- There is no significant difference in the job performance of private and public
teachers in Metro Manila.

c. Give the appropriate statistical tool.


Answer:
- The appropriate statistical tool is Z-test: Two sample for means

d. Compute the results with the use of computer. Show the steps.
Answer:
Step 1. Open Microsoft Excel
Step 2. Input the data from the table given.
Step 3. Click Tools > Excel add-ins. Check Analysis Toolpak. Click Ok.
Step 4. Highlight the data. Click Tools > Data Analysis.
Step 5. Click Z-test: Two-Sample for Means. Click Ok.
Step 6. Select the input Variable 1 Range: $B$4: $B$18; Input Variable 2 Range: $C$4:
$C$18; Hypothesized Mean Difference: 0; Variable 1 Variance (known): 4.558107;
Variable 2 Variance (known): 0.952393; and Alpha 0.05.
Step 7. Click Ok
Step 8. The computer displays as follows:

e. Find the tabular value at 0.01 level of significance.

f. Interpret the results.


Answer:
- The mean job performance of private school teachers in Metro Manila is 8.53 which is
very satisfactory, while the mean job performance of public-school teachers in Metro
Manila is 6.67 which is satisfactory. The computed z-test value obtained is 3.079760173
which is greater than the z-tabular value of 1.959963985.

g. Do you accept/reject the null hypothesis? Why?


Answer:
- The job performance of private school teachers is higher than public school teachers.
In conclusion, private school teachers are more effective than public school teachers.
Therefore, the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference between the
private and public school teachers in Metro Manila is rejected.
