31. CHRIS: Returning Senators Richard Gordon and Panfilo Lacson are cold to the idea
of having the Philippine National Police, undergo a congressional investigation over the
spate of deaths of drug pushing suspects during the PNP’s drug buy-busts, raids and
surveillance operations.
Lacson, said the investigation might break the momentum of what has been shaping up
as an effective anti-drug war by President Duterte.
Gordon believes that the police force must be the first to hold an internal investigation of
any violation of the law alleged to have been committed by cops.

35. GELO: I'm here in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao where three members of the
Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and a 15-year old girl were killed while two
soldiers were injured when hostilities erupted here on Wednesday.
Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, speaking for the 6th Infantry Division, said Fatimah Elian, 15, of
Barangay Meta, was killed by stray bullets during the firefight. Three BIFF gunmen were
also killed.

41. ANDREA: Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen is indignant at the U.N. arbitration
tribunal’s decision to deny China — and Taiwan — their maritime claims in the South
China Sea. They share the same territorial claims, pitting them against other claimants,
the Philippines and Vietnam. The U.N. arbitration tribunal ruled in favor of the
Philippines.
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said it would continue to send planes and ships to
the South China Sea on patrol missions and to defend Taiwan’s territory and
sovereignity.
