Based on the radial distribution of heating rate in the primary shielding concrete and relevant conditions, the maximum temperature and difference in temperature in the primary shielding concrete is calculated, 3.5 Calculation of Dose Rate in the Primary Shielding Concrete after Shutdown ‘The y dose rate in the primary shielding concrete after shutdown is calculated also by ANISN code. The y source strength and energy spectrum in the core after shutdown, are calculated by ORIGEN2 code. 4° Calculation Results and Conclusions 4.1 Fast Neutron Fluence on the Inner Surface of RPV Azimuthal variations of neutron fluence rates on the inner surface of RPV at core midplane are shown in Figure 4-1 ‘The maximum fast neutron fluence rate (E>1.0 MeV) on the inner surface of RPV calculated from equation (3-1) is 4.63x10'" n/cm?-s, so the maximum fast neutron fluence in plant lifetime of 40 years @(E>1.0 MeV) =4.97*10"° n/em* Substituting the ® (E>1.0 MeV) into relative formula in RG1.99, the adjustment Reference Temperature (ART) of RPV can be obtained. The ART is expected to be less than 200 °F (93 °C) and it satisfies the requirement of design criteria (1). 4.2 Lead Factors of Surveillance Capsule The calculation results of the surveillance capsules lead factors are listed in Table 4-1 and all of them meet the requirement which is not larger than 3.0 in design criteria (2). 4.3 Neutron Fluence Rate Distribution and Thickness Needed of the Primary Shielding Concrete Radial variations of neutron fluence rates in RPV at core midplane and 0° azimuth angle are shown in Figure 4-2. Zl PC2.02-14-00 et Primary Shielding Calculation Specification Rev.B E23 Radial variations of neutron fluence rates in the primary shielding concrete at core midplane and 0° azimuth angle are shown in Figure 4-3. From the curve of the figure, it is obvious that conerete thickness of 150 cm has already satisfied the requirement of design criterion (3). 4.4 Dose Rate Distribution in the Primary Shielding Conerete Radial variations of neutron dose rate, gamma dose rate and total dose rate in the primary shielding conerete at core midplane and 0°azimuth angle are shown in Figure 44, 4.5 Heating Rate Distribution in the Primary Shielding Conerete Radial variations of heating rate in the primary shielding concrete at core midplane and 0° azimuth angle are shown in Figure 4-5. 4.6 Maximum Temperature and Difference in Temperature in the Primary Shielding Concrete Based on radial variations of heating rate in Figure 4-5 and the following conditions: (1) coefficient of heat conduction: 4200 Jimh-"C, (2) vent flow in reactor void: 25000 m*/h, (3) temperature of coo! air in reaetor void: 48 °C, (4) temperature of cool air in main equipment room: 50 °C, (5) uncertainty factor of heating rate calculation: 2.0. The maximum temperature and difference in temperature in the primary shielding concrete can be obtained and they are 65.1 °C and 11.7 ‘C/m, respectively. These meet the requirement of design criterion (4), so shielding cool system is not necessary. 4.7 Dose Rate in the Primary Shielding Concrete after Shutdown. At O hr after shutdown, the maximum dose rate is 5.52x10“ mSv/h at 2 m distance from the inner surface of the primary shielding concrete, it is less than the dose rate limit of radiation zone I PC2.02-14-00 Primary Shielding Calculation Specification Rey.B E923 5 Reference [1] NRC R.G1.99, Radiation Embrittlement of Reactor Vessel Materials (Revision 2).
