Performance of Livestock and Poultry Production in Negros

Island Region

Livestock Production
Hog production (live weight), which accounts the largest share of the total
livestock production (see Figure 1), expanded by 4.6 percent in 2016.
Cattle production (live weight) in the region in 2016 totaled to 10.6 thousand
metric tons, an increased by 10.1 percent from 2015.

Chicken production registered a decline by 2.0 percent in 2016. A decline


on the production was noted in all types (broiler, layer, native/improved and other
chickens). Duck posted an increase of 3.1 percent. Chicken eggs increased by 1.7
percent and Duck eggs decreased by 0.5 percent.
