Superstructure Definition Wizard - Beam Data

This window provides a shortcut for defining a prestressed concrete beam. The information entered in this
window populates the applicable windows within the Superstructure Definition tree. The information entered in
this window can then be modified within the applicable windows of the Superstructure Definition tree. This
window is to be used primarily for design (based on LRFD). If you use the wizard for rating, you will need to
modify information in several windows that are populated using the wizard assumptions (such as distribution
factors, and analysis engine). Enter the required information and click the Next button.

Span No.
Displays the span number to which this data applies.

Span Length
Enter the span length for this span. For exterior supports (abutments), the span length is measured from the
centerline of bearing. For interior supports (piers), the span length is measured from the centerline of the pier.

Beam Shape
Select the beam shape designation for this span, as entered in the Prestress Beam Shapes - Box Beams
window or the Prestress Beam Shapes - I Beams window. Selecting "--Copy from Library—" will open a
window in which you can select a beam shape from the library.

Strand Configuration
Select the strand configuration corresponding to this span as either Debonded or Harped.

Beam Projection
Enter the distance from the centerline of bearing to the end of the beam. This distance is used to determine the
total length of precast beam from end to end. The total length of the beam is required for creep and shrinkage
calculations, girder camber, debonding, and transfer length from the end of the beam.

Left End
Enter the distance from the centerline of bearing at the left end of the span to the left end of the beam. Always
enter a positive value.

Right End
Enter the distance from the centerline of bearing at the right end of the span to the right end of the beam.
Always enter a positive value.
