The Amazon rainforest has been on fire for the past month, and

Brazil has declared a state of emergency in the region. The


fires are destroying the homes of indigenous tribes and
threatening millions of animal species.
Fire attention emerged worldwide in August, when social media
users, tweeters and bloggers provide unique news coverage of
the event with trending hashtags. The videos toured the world.
Foreign leaders told us how to help put out the fires.
Fire is often used to clear out the land for farming or ranching.
For that reason,director of the nonprofit Amazon Watch said the
vast majority of the fires could be attributed to humans,
the scientists said human activities — farming, mining and
drilling —was exacerbating the situation
Effects of damage to the Amazon go far beyond Brazil and its
neighbors. The area's rainforest generates more than 20% of the
world's oxygen and is home to 10% of the world's known
biodiversity.

Brazil - home to more than half the Amazon rainforest - has


seen a high number of fires in 2019, Brazilian space agency
data suggests.
The National Institute for Space Research (Inpe) says its satellite
data shows an 76% increase on the same period in 2018

-Reduce your beef intake. Beef found in processed products and
fast-food burgers is often linked to deforestation.
