Six persons of a family of Alamshah village in Fazilka district drowned on Thursday


noon after their car fell into Gang Canal near Jandwala Miransangla village.

Meanwhile, Surinder Singh (33) has reportedly been swept away in the strong current
of the water and is still missing. His elder brother Balwinder Singh managed to
escape unhurt.

The deceased have been identified as Kulwinder Kaur (30), her two daughters Seema
Rani (6) and Sona Rani (2) and son Sajan (4), mother-in-law Swaran Kaur (65) and
nephew Lakhwinder Singh (15).
Sources said eight persons of Amarpura Dhani left for Achariki village in a Hyundai
Santro car in the morning to seek blessings of a “child baba”. When the car reached
near Jandwala Mirasangla village, it went out of control and fell into the canal.

The Gang Canal has been flowing to its maximum capacity with a strong current of
water these days.
