Dry-wall square- 4 ft long t-shaped ruler Plumbob- vertical line. Thick grenade looking thing attached to a string. Gravity pulls it down to a specific spot on the floor Level- measures if a table top is even and flat Trammel points Lag bolt- looks like a regular bolt but instead of having regular threads, it has giant screws. Has an X head. “Lagging something up”. Used to put barns together Hand tools: Flathead screwdriver- can be used for flathead screws Phillips screwdriver- has a “Phillips” head. Two most common types of screwdrivers Dead low mallet- dead hit on material. Semi-pliable so it doesn’t destroy what it’s hitting. Filled with sand Sledgehammer- does damage, destroys what it’s hitting Crowbar and wonderbar/flatbar- crowbar has more leverage. Wonderbar works just like a crowbar, can be used to break a wall off. Can be used to break a broken screw Wrenches: C-wrench/crescent wrench- adjustable, can fit the size of the nut/bolt you are trying to screw Box-in wrench- what you actually use to get a nut/bolt off. Comes in standard size Pliers- used to grab hold of a nut/bolt but not recommended. Used to pull things out, pull out staples, bend metal. Dykes/wire snips- used for snipping wire and to strip metal. Vise grips- it’s a clamp. They clamp down and hold onto things. They are adjustable Fencing tool- does many, many things. Has a hammer on one end, and has a crybar on the other end. Has little sets of pliers. Can grab hold of bolts/nuts. It has wire cutters. Tweaker- fits right over a 2 by 4. Can clamp down on a piece of wood and move it into place. Not a hammer Files- used to file down metal or wood. Has a point on the end called an “all” Rasp- like a file but more heavy duty, has “teeth” on the backside Chisel- to carve wood/ put grooves in wood Punch- comes in different diameters, used to punch things out (punch a nail out of something, etc) Chop line- used for drawing in a line out of chalk Hole saw- makes a really, really big hole. Goes down through the wood and cuts a hole in that size Drill bit hole- goes through hole saw, helps keep it straight Forsner bit- makes a hole Combination bit/ step bit- great for drilling holes through metal
