Depending on what powers them:

1. Gas turbines

3. Hydro turbines

Depending on how they utilise energy:

1. Impulse turbines
2. Reaction turbines

Then the reaction turbines are further subdivided on the basis of percentage of reaction. The
hydro turbines are also further subdivided on the basis of impeller design.

Types of hydro turbines :

1. Pelton turbine
2. Kaplan turbine
3. Francis turbine
4. Bulb turbine
5. Propeller turbine

Note that turbines can also be subdivided on the basis of speed and other parameters like
pressure.
