1.

Option B
Solution:
Number of pages typed by Rajiv in one hour = 40/6 = 20/3
Number of pages typed by Elango in one hour = 45/5 = 9
Number of pages typed by both in one hour = ((20/3) + 9) = 47/3
Therefore, time taken by both to type 141 pages = 141/(47/3) = 141 x 3/47 = 9 hours.

2. Option C
Solution:
Let, efficiency of Raj be R units/day and efficiency of Shiva be S units/day
Total work = (R+S)30 or
Total work = 16R+44S
Therefore, (R+S)30 = 16R+44S
R/S = 1/1
Total work = (R+S)30 = (1+1)30 = 60 units
Time taken by Shiva to complete the total work = 60/1 = 60 days

3. Option A
Solution:
Let us assume the total work =LCM(24, 40) = 120 units
A+B ---> 24 days ------> 120/24 --> 5 units/day
A ----> 40 days -------> 120/40 ---> 3 units/day
A+B = 5 units/day
3+B = 5
B = 2units/day, therefore in half day B can complete only 1 unit
Therefore, in such a way working together A+B can complete 4 units/day
Time taken to complete the total work = 120/4 = 30 days

4. Option D
Solution:
Let us assume the total units of work to be done be 288. (L.C.M of 36 and 32)
The units of work done by A in a single day = 288/36 = 8
Similarly, the units of work done by B in a single day = 288/32 = 9.
A and B’s one day work = 17 units
A and B worked together for some days = 17X ( Assume)
B’s work alone for 15 days = 15 x 9 = 135
So, the work done by A and B together = (288 - 135) = 153 units
Therefore, 17X = 153
=> 9 units
Therefore, the number of days after which A left the work was 9 days.

5. Option C
Solution:
Let us assume the total time taken by first two pipes be 150 minutes to fill the tank.
(L.C.M of 25 and 30)
=>150/25 = 6 and 150/30 = 5.
Therefore, the number of gallons filled by both the pipes in one minute = (6 + 5) = 11 gallons.
At the same time a waste pipe is also opened which can empty 5 gallons per minute.
Hence, the number of gallons filled in one minute = (11 - 5) = 6 gallons.
Therefore, the number of gallons filled when all the three pipes are opened for 15 minutes
= 6 x 15 = 90 gallons.

6. Option D
Solution:
Men and days are inversely proportional(So, direct multiplication)
Days and hours are inversely proportional(So, direct multiplication)
Men Days Hours
45 14 6
36 x 7
45 x 124 x 6 = 36 x 7 x X
X = 15

7. Option B
Solution:
Let, efficiency of A be "a" units/day and efficiency of B be "b" units/day
Total work = 96a (or) 8a + 44b
Therefore, 96a = 8a+44b
88a = 44b
a/b = 1/2
Total work = 96*1 = 96 units
Work completed A and B in one day = 3 units/day
Time taken by A and B to complete the total work = 96/3 = 32 days

8. Option A
Solution:
Let us assume the total work done be 360 units.(L.C.M of 90, 40 and 12)
Therefore, work done by Anu, Balu and Chitra in single day are 4 units, 9 units and 30 units
respectively.
Each of them working for 9 days Anu and Balu will be able to complete 4 units and 9 units of their
work on the 9th day but Chitra
will be doing remaining 3 units of work.
Hence, individual work done by them to complete the whole work is 36 units, 81 units and 243 units
till the end of 9th day for each of them.
Thus, respective wages on the basis of work done is Rs 36, Rs 81 and Rs 243 respectively for Anu,
Balu and Chitra.

9. Option D
Solution:
Number of men working on first day = 1
Number of men working on second day = 3
Number of men working on third day = 6 and so on..
No of boys on each day,
1+(1+2)+(1+2+3)+….(1+2+…15)
formula for adding this series = n(n+1)(n+2)/6 = 15*16*17 /6 = 680
G= girls; B= boys
G= 2B; G/B = 2/1
10G = 20 units/day (twice the work)
Therefore, time taken to complete total work = 680 / 20 = 34 days

10. Option C
Solution:
Total work = LCM(4,6,2)= 12 units
A ---> 4 days -----3 units/day
B ---> 6 days -----2 units/day
A+B+C ---> 2 days -----6units/day
A+B+C = 6 ; 3+2+C = 6 ; C= 1 units/day
A:B:C = 3:2:1 = 6p = 600; 1P = 100
Therefore salaries of A, B, C are 300, 200,100 respectively.

11. Option B
Solution:
A is 50% as efficient of B, then A= 1/2 B ; A/B = 1/2
A and B's half of the work done by A and B, then C = A+B / 2
C = A+B / 2 = (1+2)/2 = 1.5 units/day
Total work = 40C = 40 *1.5 = 60 units
Time taken together to complete the total work = 60/(1+2+1.5) = 13(1/3) days

12. Option C
Solution:
Let us assume the total units of work to be completed as 42.(L.C.M of 14 and 6)
Units of work completed by X in a single day = 42/14 = 3 units.
Units of work completed by Y in a single day = 42/6 = 7 units.
Thus, 10 units of work can be done by them in a single day working together.
X works for 4 days alone = 4 x 3 = 12 units of work.
Remaining work = (42 - 12) = 30 units.
Now, X and Y works together to complete the remaining work = 30/10 = 3 days
Hence, total days taken to complete the work = (3 + 4) 7 days.

13. Option B
Solution:
Assume that the total work = LCM(10, 50) = 50 units
A+B ---> 10 days ---> 5 units/day
C----> 50 days ----> 1 units/day
A = B+C ; A-B = C;
A -B = 1
A+B = 5
Therefore, A = 3 units/day; B= 2 units/day
Time taken by B to complete the total work = 50 / 2 = 25 days.

14. Option C
Solution:
5A = B
A/B = 1/5
Assume the total capacity of the tank as 30 lit.
So A will fill 1 lit/min, and B will 5 lit/min.
Both the taps together, time taken to fill the tank = 30/(1+5) = 5 min

15. Option A
Solution:
Using the chain rule,
(M1 x T1)/W1= (M2 x T2)/W2
Thus, (36 x 10 x 8) / 2/5 = (M2 x 12 x 8) / 3/5
M2 = 45.
Therefore, number of men required = (45 + 36) = 81.

16. Option B
Solution:
A=15 days
B is 50% more efficient than A.
Therefore, B = A+50% of A
=>B=1.5 A
We know that, they are doing the same work,
Therefore, A’s work = B’s work
Let X be the number of days B alone has to work.
=> A*15 = B*X
15A = 1.5AX
X =15/1.5 = 10

17. Option D
Solution:
Let us assume the total work = LCM(8,12,6) = 120 units
A+B----> 8 days ---> 120/8 = 15 units/day ---->i
B+C----> 12days ----> 120/12 = 10 units/day--->ii
A+B+C--> 6 days ----> 120/6 = 20 units/day--->iii
add (i&ii) ; A+2B+C = 25 units/day
sub (i&ii) & iii ; B = 5 units/day,
Therefore, A+C = 15 units/day(substitute B in iii)
Time taken by A & C to complete the total work = 120/15 = 8 days.

18. Option C
Solution:
Assume that building the model is positive work and breaking the model to be negative work.
Here Krishna is doing positive work whereas Gopal is doing negative work.
Total work = 20 Models
Krishna = 10 days = 2 model/day
Gopal = 20 days = -1 model/day
Krishna + Gopal = 1 model/day
Therefore time taken to complete total work = 20/1 = 20 days

19. Option B
Solution:
A = 3B ; A/B = 3/1
Time taken by A is "t" , then time taken by B will be "t+40"
Total work = 3t (or) 1(t+40)
3t = t+40; 2t = 40 ; t = 20
Total work = 3t = 3(20) = 60 units
Working together, time taken by them to complete total work = 60/(3+1)= 15 days

20. Option C
Solution:
Let us assume the total work = LCM(4,8,16) = 16 units
M ----> 4d ----> 4 units/day
W ----> 8d ----> 2 units/day
B -----> 16d ----> 1 units/day
M+W can complete 6 units/day, so in 1/4th of a day, they can complete 6/4(i.e)3/2 units work
Remaining work = 16-3/2 = 29/2 units
B in one day 1 unit, so in 1/4th of a day, it can complete 1/4th unit work
No of Boys required to complete the remaining work = (29/2)/(1/4) = 58
