This email is in response to your query about the latest briefing by the President.
The new President has given approval to support a new gas project in his recent
visit Inter Gas Systems (Private) Limited. The project focuses on importing Sui gas
from Russian company, Gazprom’s sources in Middle East to Pakistan. The on-
going gas crisis in the country is expected to alleviate as it will import 500 million
to 1 billion cubic foot of gas daily through sea link. Its cost is 10 billion dollars
approximately. ISGS states that the pipeline construction will be completed in 3 to
4 years.
The Chairperson of ISGS stated that this Off Shore Gas Pipeline Agreement begins
with carrying out a feasibility report that will evaluate the technical and financial
aspects of the project; a plan will be made to start other side projects like Under
Ground Gas storage and the construction of the main pipeline afterwards. Although
the agreement is signed when CPEC is underway and this will highlight Pakistan’s
importance in the Road and Belt project.
