Export Sales Highlights
This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period July 26-August 1, 2019.
Wheat: Net sales of 487,700 metric tons for 2019/2020 were up 27 percent from the previous week and 17 percent
from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primary for the Philippines (76,600 MT), Mexico (71,400 MT,
including decreases of 900 MT), Japan (68,500 MT), Italy (65,300 MT), and Taiwan (61,500 MT). Reductions were
primarily for Brazil (30,000 MT), Colombia (23,300 MT), and Indonesia (10,000 MT). Exports of 367,600 MT were
down 10 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were
primarily to Mexico (74,400 MT), the Philippines (56,600 MT), South Korea (55,200 MT), Peru (34,900 MT), and
Chile (34,400 MT).
Corn: Net sales of 42,600 MT for 2018/2019 were down 70 percent from the previous week and 82 percent from the
prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Saudi Arabia (59,300 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 800 MT), Mexico (42,900 MT, including decreases of 3,900 MT), El Salvador
(30,400 MT, including 23,300 MT switched from Guatemala), Japan (30,300 MT, including 49,300 MT switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 27,500 MT), and Colombia (25,800 MT, including 25,500 MT switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 4,700 MT). Reductions were primarily for unknown destinations (134,800
MT) and Guatemala (25,500 MT). For 2019/2020, net sales of 197,000 MT resulting in increases for Mexico (92,300
MT), Honduras (37,500 MT), Panama (35,600 MT), unknown destinations (25,200 MT), and Canada (11,400 MT),
were partially offset by reductions for Colombia (5,000 MT). Exports of 692,600 MT were down 2 percent from the
previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (253,800
MT), Japan (214,000 MT), Saudi Arabia (59,300 MT), Guatemala (37,400 MT), and El Salvador (25,100 MT).
Optional Origin: For 2018/2019, increases resulting from change in destination for Japan (50,000 MT, switched from
unknown destinations). Options were exercised to export 114,500 MT to Taiwan (65,000 MT) and Japan (49,500 MT)
from other than the United States. Decreases totaling 500 MT were reported for Japan. The current outstanding
balance of 121,000 MT is for South Korea. For 2019/2020, new optional origin sales of 130,000 MT were reported
for South Korea. The current outstanding balance of 598,600 MT is for South Korea (325,000 MT), unknown
destinations (153,600 MT), and Israel (120,000 MT).
Barley: No net sales for 2018/2019 were reported for the week. Exports of 1,400 MT were to Japan.
Sorghum: Net sales of 38,800 MT for 2018/2019 resulting in increases for China (25,000 MT), Mexico (13,700
MT), and Japan (5,700 MT, including 5,600 MT switched from unknown destinations). Reductions were for
unknown destinations (5,600 MT). For 2019/2020, total net sales of 25,000 MT were for China. Exports of
9,600 MT were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 80 percent from the prior 4-week average. The
destination was primarily to Japan (5,700 MT).
Rice: Net sales of 97,700 MT were reported for 2019/2020, which began August 1. Increases were reported for
Mexico (66,700 MT), Haiti (15,200 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Venezuela (9,800 MT), Canada (1,300
MT), and Hong Kong (1,300 MT). A total of 460,200 MT in sales were outstanding on July 31 and carried over
to 2019/2020. Accumulated exports in 2018/2019 totaled 3,078,300 MT were up 9 percent from the prior year’s total
of 2,816,000 MT. Exports for 2018/2019 totaled 14,100 MT and were primarily to Mexico (6,100 MT), Japan (2,300
MT), Jordan (1,500 MT), Saudi Arabia (1,200 MT), and Colombia (900 MT).
Exports for Own Account: For 2019/2020, exports for own account total of 100 MT were carried over from the
2018/2019 marketing year, which ended July 31. The current outstanding balance including carryover is for
Canada (100 MT).
Export Adjustment: Accumulated exports of rice to Hong Kong were adjusted down 100 MT for week ending
July 25th. The correct destination is Japan and is included in this week’s report.
Soybeans: Net sales 101,700 MT for 2018/2019 were down 29 percent from the previous week, but up 25 percent
from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (126,200 MT, including 64,500 MT switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 9,500 MT), the Netherlands (112,900 MT, including 120,000 MT switched
from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,100 MT), South Korea (49,000 MT, including 50,000 MT switched
from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,000 MT), Spain (40,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations),
and France (24,200 MT, including 23,000 MT switched from unknown destinations). Reductions were primarily for
unknown destinations (307,500 MT). For 2019/2020, net sales of 318,300 MT resulting in increases for unknown
destinations (290,500 MT), Colombia (8,000 MT), Panama (6,700 MT), and Malaysia (6,300 MT), were partially
offset by reductions for Taiwan (300 MT). Exports of 1,017,200 MT were up 10 percent from the previous week and
29 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (516,200 MT), the Netherlands
(112,900 MT), Mexico (112,800 MT), Egypt (57,400 MT), and South Korea (49,000 MT).
Optional Origin: For 2019/2020, the current outstanding balance is 60,000 MT, all unknown destinations.
Exports for Own Account: For 2018/2019, the current exports for own account outstanding balance is 2,400 MT, all
Canada.
Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 92,200 MT were down 19 percent from the previous, but up 19 percent from
the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (25,500 MT), Mexico (19,400 MT), Canada
(8,700 MT), Burma (7,100 MT), and Ecuador (7,000 MT, including 8,000 MT switched from unknown destinations
and decreases of 1,300 MT). Reductions were primarily for unknown destinations (8,000 MT), Guatemala (3,400
MT), and the French West Indies (2,900 MT). For 2019/2020, net sales of 18,600 MT were primarily for Panama
(14,000 MT), the Philippines (2,100 MT), and Honduras (900 MT). Exports of 166,200 MT were down 18 percent
from the previous week, but up 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico
(35,700 MT), Colombia (33,000 MT), the Philippines (22,500 MT), Guatemala (21,900 MT), and Canada (8,200 MT).
Soybean Oil: Net sales of 31,800 MT for 2018/2019 were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-
week average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (23,000 MT), Colombia (5,000 MT), the Dominican
Republic (4,000 MT), and Canada (100 MT). Reductions were reported for Mexico (400 MT). For 2019/2020, total
net sales of 8,900 MT were for the Dominican Republic. Exports of 1,700 MT--a marketing-year low--were down 95
percent from the previous week and 92 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to
Mexico (1,500 MT) and Canada (100 MT).
Cotton: Net sales for 2019/2020, which began August 1, totaled 179,500 RB. Increases reported for China (60,100
RB), India (28,700 RB), Japan (18,100 RB), Vietnam (14,300 RB, including decreases of 1,300 RB), and Pakistan
(12,300 RB), were partially offset by reductions for Honduras (400 RB). A total of 7,372,800 RB in sales were carried
over from the 2018/2019 marketing year, which ended July 31. Exports for the period ending July 31 of 272,700 RB
brought accumulated exports to 13,158,900 RB, down 11 percent from the prior years’ total of 14,830,600 RB. The
primary destinations were Vietnam (71,800 RB), Turkey (40,500 RB), India (36,100 RB), Indonesia (23,100 RB), and
China (17,700 RB). Exports for August 1 totaled 72,800 RB, with Vietnam (35,800 RB), Turkey (8,800 RB), China
(5,400 RB), India (5,100 RB), and Bangladesh (4,800 RB) being the primary destination. Net sales of Pima for
2018/2019 totaled 8,800 RB. Increases were reported for Bangladesh (5,200 RB), India (1,000 RB), Hong Kong (900
RB), Bahrain (400 RB), and Turkey (400 RB). A total of 76,300 RB in sales were carried over from the 2018/2019
marketing year, which ended July 31. Exports for the period ending July 31 of 1,900 RB brought accumulated exports
to 644,800 RB, up 5 percent from the prior years’ total of 611,400 RB. The destinations were India (700 RB), Austria
(400 RB), Egypt (400 RB), and Slovenia (200 RB). Exports for August 1 totaled 2,200 RB, with China (1,100 RB),
Bangladesh (400 RB), India (400 RB), and Peru (300 RB) being the primary destinations.
Exports for Own Account: For 2019/2020, exports for own account total of 9,200 RB were carried over from the
2018/2019 marketing year, which ended July 31. The current outstanding balance of 12,200 RB including carryover is
for Indonesia (6,400 RB), China (2,300 RB), Vietnam (1,500 RB), South Korea (1,200 RB), Taiwan (500 RB), and
Thailand (300 RB).
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 422,700 pieces reported for 2019 were down 15 percent from the
previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales totaling 423,000
pieces primarily for China (268,500 pieces, including decreases of 4,900 pieces), South Korea (92,600
pieces, including decreases of 2,200 pieces), Mexico (33,500 pieces, including decreases of 300 pieces),
Thailand (13,200 pieces, including decreases of 1,500 pieces), and Cambodia (7,900 pieces), were
partially offset by reductions for Brazil (300 pieces). Exports of 430,700 pieces reported for 2019 were
up 3 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide
exports of 426,900 pieces were primarily to China (290,600 pieces), South Korea (62,300 pieces),
Mexico (35,800 pieces), Thailand (25,900 pieces), and Brazil (4,600 pieces).
Net sales of 80,500 wet blues for 2019 were down 33 percent from the previous week and 48 percent from
the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Vietnam (31,400 unsplit), Thailand (15,000 unsplit),
Mexico (7,200 unsplit and 5,600 grain splits), China (12,600 unsplit), and Italy (5,700 unsplit), were
partially offset by reductions for India (1,700 unsplit) and Italy (300 grain splits). Exports of 214,200 wet
blues for 2019 were up 8 percent from the previous week and 38 percent from the prior 4-week average.
The primary destinations were Italy (56,900 unsplit and 16,000 grain splits), Vietnam (54,800 unsplit and
1,800 grain splits), China (34,800 unsplit), Mexico (17,900 grain splits and 2,400 unsplit), and Thailand
(18,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 12,400 pounds for 2019 were reported for Vietnam. Exports of
360,500 pounds were to Vietnam (317,500 pounds) and China (43,000 pounds).
Beef: Net sales of 22,000 MT were up 94 percent from the previous week and 41 percent from the prior
4-week average. Increases were primarily for Hong Kong (8,300 MT, including decreases of 200 MT),
Japan (4,500 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), South Korea (2,400 MT, including decreases of 600
MT), Canada (2,200 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Mexico (1,400 MT, including decreases
of 100 MT). Exports of 18,200 MT were up 15 percent from the previous week and 8 percent from the
prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (5,600 MT), Japan (5,400 MT), Taiwan
(2,000 MT), Mexico (1,900 MT), and Hong Kong (1,000 MT).
Pork: Net sales of 13,700 MT reported for 2019 were up 55 percent from the previous week, but down 13
percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Canada (4,100 MT), Mexico (2,300 MT),
South Korea (1,500 MT), China (1,400 MT), and Australia (1,300 MT). For 2020, total net sales of 400 MT
were for Japan. Exports of 26,700 MT were down 1 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior
4-week average. The primary destinations were to China (8,600 MT), Mexico (6,700 MT), Ja pan (2,700 MT),
South Korea (2,500 MT), and Canada (1,800 MT).
