“The Exchange”

One summer morning, a black rabbit was wandering around the forest. He came across a beautiful
flower bed. He collected a bunch of flowers and put it in a basket. The black rabbit hopped around happily,
while looking at the flowers he collected. Behind him, a white rabbit hopped along with carrots in her
basket. She saw the black rabbit looking at something and she approached him and said, “Hi black rabbit!
What are you looking at?” The black rabbit was surprised by the sudden approach. He looked at the white
rabbit and smiled “Oh, hi white rabbit, these are the flowers I collected earlier.” The white rabbit was
attracted to the beauty of the flowers, she took out the carrots from her basket and said “I have carrots
with me, do you want to trade?” The black rabbit suddenly felt hungry, he nodded his head and agreed
to trade the beautiful flowers for her carrots. They were about to trade off when a raccoon interrupted
them. “What are you two doing?” said the raccoon. “I am going to trade my carrots for black rabbit’s
flowers” said the white rabbit. The raccoon and the white rabbit chatted for a while. While they were
chatting the black rabbit decided to keep the best flowers for himself and hid all of the good flowers,
leaving the ugly ones in the basket. When the raccoon at last bid farewell to the white rabbit the two
rabbits continued to do the exchange and went on to their respective homes.

The midnight moon shone and the white rabbit sleeping peacefully. The black rabbit, however,
tossed and turned and couldn’t sleep. He kept thinking about the white rabbit and the carrots. He
wondered if the white rabbit perhaps thought the way he did and picked out the best carrots for herself.
“But are you sure?” An angel suddenly appeared which surprised the black rabbit. “Hi I’m your guardian
angel. Your conscience are telling you that what you did was wrong. It is not a fair trade because you
cheated by giving her all of your ugly flowers.” What the angel said made the black rabbit feel sadness
and regret. A tear escaped his eyes as he think about what he did. “What are you thinking? Why are you
crying? You didn’t do anything wrong.” A Black Angel appeared.

The next morning the Black Rabbit was walking in the forest and saw the white rabbit with the
friendly racoon playing together. “Do the right thing.” The Angels reappeared. “No, he doesn’t need to.”
The Black Rabbit shook them off in frustration and decided what he should do. He approached the two
friends with his basket of flowers and left it beside the tree with their things.
