Your son is having acute psychoses and patients with


acute psychoses are mentally distracted. They may have
hallucinations, (visual or auditory), delusions or false
beliefs, and also they have no insight – they don’t
understand that they are sick and that they need help,
and poor judgment. The may harm themselves or others
The cause is unknown, it can be organic, can follow
severe emotional stress, alcohol use may cause it, and
also it may run in family.
Management:
Immediate admission
Psychiatric assessment
Put on medications (antipsychotic)
When he is stable, he can go home.

Is this Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a chronic condition usually more than 6
months duration
At this stage, it is an acute condition, We need to assess
your son after a period of time

Is there any connection between drug use and the
