Instructions for Mid-Semester Examination

 The mid-semester examination will be conducted on 30th September 2019 between


11:00AM and 12:30 PM
 Please refer to the notice from the AUGSD regarding seating for the examination. Please
attend the exam in your allotted venue only.
 No mobile phones permitted in the examination hall
 You will be allowed to leave the examination venue only after the first 30minutes – i.e. after
11:30 AM.
 This is a closed-book examination with a maximum score of 80 marks and worth 20% of
your final grade.
 No calculators or any other computing device permitted in this component
 Please answer using black/blue ink only. Anything written in pencil will not be evaluated.
All diagrams should be drawn by pen only.
 Please begin every question on a new sheet to minimize confusion during grading. Clearly
indicate the question number. Answers without the question number will not be marked.
 If you take a supplementary sheet, please clearly indicate the number of sheets used. Ensure
that the sheets are securely tied before you submit your answer books.
 When drawing any gate level diagrams, please ensure that the gates are drawn clearly and
that you can distinguish the various gates. Your answer will not be marked if the instructor
is unable to interpret what the gate is. Please do not overwrite on these diagrams and keep
them as neat as possible. Please be aware that shorts and open need to be shown clearly. If
not clear, then they will be left open to interpretation by the grader and marks will be
awarded accordingly.
 Please keep your timing diagrams as neat as possible. Please clearly indicate the key signals
that impact other signal transitions. Unclear diagrams will be open to examiner
interpretation and will be awarded marks accordingly.
 Partial marking will be based on the sole discretion of the examiner.
